What I’m Up To:

I had a quiet week and got a lot of reading done. It’s Labor Day Weekend here in the US. We’re staying home, and my son flew in yesterday from Denver for the weekend. To be clear, he flew in to visit his girlfriend, but he’ll spare a few minutes to spend with his old mom and dad! But, it’s great to see him and know he’s doing well.

It’s been rainy most of the week. The news says this is a 100 year rain event! So, it’ll be another 100 years before we see this much rain ever again I guess. Anyway, the rain has been causing a lot of wildflowers and grasses to grow that we don’t usually get.

And more wildflowers and grasses mean allergies! I don’t suffer from allergies, but my dogs do. I had to take our dog Lizzy to the vet for an allergy shot. She’s actually my son’s dog, so I’ve never taken her to the vet, but my son now lives in Denver, so I had to take her. She’s 96 lbs of huge dog! She’s part Rhodesian Ridgeback and Labrador and was rescued from a local shelter. But so sweet and good-tempered and she did so well at the vet. She’s a lot happier now that she got her shot!

Lizzy

Today I’m taking our other dog, Nessie for her allergy shot. Nessie is 15 years old and she was named after the famous Loch Ness Monster. She is a West Highland Terrier. We had just got back from a trip to Loch Ness, when she joined our family as a little puppy. My son who was aged 9 at the time, went to Loch Ness, and insisted he saw the monster in the loch. So, if you’ve ever wondered… my son saw him so the Loch Ness monster is real! 🙂

We have a third dog, Mandu, who doesn’t suffer from allergies. He is named Mandu, which is Korean for dumplings. My daughter named him. He’s some kind of Shepard dog and was rescued from a local shelter. My kids are both Korean, adopted when they were babies.

Mandu.

Those are our dogs! We love them and they live a pretty happy life. We have over 2 acres of land, so they have room to run and play. We also have chickens, turkeys, and ducks, so there is plenty of activity in our backyard!

  1. I love your dogs, what a bunch of good dogs. <3 And goodness, that's a lot of land!! How lovely. Sounds like an absolute dream.

Really excited to hear your thoughts on Mermaids Point, All the Feels and Christmas Bookshop! You had such a good week for content this week.

  2. I hope you have a nice visit with your son. The wildflowers are beautiful, although I am sorry for the dogs’ allergies. They are all adorable. Thank you for sharing them with us. 🙂 You make me want to break out my Christmas reads. I hope you have a great week!

  3. Your dogs are so cute and I’m so happy they found a good home with you! So glad they’ll get some relief from allergies. I’d love to have 2 acres with chickens, turkeys and other animals! You are living my idea of a dream life. We hope to get out of Southern California and get to spread out a bit, but we’ll probably end up moving to Northern California to be closer to our daughter so I don’t see chickens in that future. We have to wait at least two years so my husband’s lifetime medical kicks in with his company. We’ll see what happens.

All the Christmas books! I have the Sarah Morgan and I’m excited to dive in, but I think I’ll wait a bit more. I’m not in the holiday/winter mood just yet with the temps being 100+ right now. Ack! I think it’s supposed to cool down to the 90s later this week. Crossing my fingers here.

I hope you had a lovely visit with your son, Wendy!

    • Thank you Rachel. We have a pretty good life here, we moved all the time with the military, so this was a dream of ours too.

Those are three lucky dogs Wendy! A beautiful place to run and play! Enjoy your rainy days while they last!🤣💜
