Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Each week a new theme is suggested for bloggers to participate in. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want. Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.

Today’s Top 10: Books Set In a Place I’d Love to Visit (real places or fictional)

1. The Boardwalk Bookshop by Susan Mallery. I would love to run a bookshop on the beach!

2. The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand and Dog Friendly by Victoria Schade are both set on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. I’d love to live there.

3. Something Wilder by Christina Lauren. This is set in Canyonlands National Park in Southern Utah.

4. Made in Manhattan and To Sir With Love by Lauren Layne. Both are set in New York City, and I would love to live there for a year.

5. Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I’d love to live in the fictitious town of Virgin River with Mel and Jack!

6. Lost and Found in Paris by Lian Dolan and Ballerina by Rachel Kapelke – Dade are both set in Paris.

7. Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult. This is set in the Galapagos Islands!

8. Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. Set on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Maybe just for the summer here!

9. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. I would think living in a secret garden would be beautiful.

10. Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne. I always wanted to live in the 100-acre wood.

  1. Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are two places I loved going to with my parents when I was a kid. We used to go every year. Now, it’s too hot, lol. (I don’t do well in the heat even though our summers are routinely over 100 degrees.)

I’d also love to go to PE Island. My friends and I have talked about doing it as a girls’ trip. Great list! 😀

  2. Oh great picks! I also thought of the woods in Winnie The Pooh 🙂 Having a bookshop by the beach, or being in a secret garden sounds ideal x

  3. I have wanted to visit PEI since I read Anne of Green Gables. All sorts of places over the British Isles because of books, but also Egypt because of the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters.

  4. Oh, I love this blog hop. I might start participating next week. I love your list, especially Hundred Acre Wood. Last year I was asked (in an ice breaker activity) where I would like to spend a day or something like that and my response was the Hundred Acre Wood. 🙂

  5. Jenny+McClinton

A wonderful list with both fictional & non fictional places that all sound lovely 💕

  6. I’d love to visit the “100 Aker Wood” ❤ Reading Anne of Green Gables made me want to visit Prince Edward Island, Canada, too. Great list this week, Wendy!

  7. What a fun post! I’d like to visit all these places too! Come to visit me though Wendy as Virgin River is filmed in my area!

  8. PEI and the hundred acre wood are dream spaces for me too. Part of why I love LM Montgomery’s books so much is their setting in PEI. Great set of choices Wendy🙂

    • Thank you, Mallika. I’d love to plan a long visit out to eastern Canada. I also want to go to Nova Scotia where I was born. But, it’s a long way from Arizona.

  9. Lovely choices! I’m so with you on the beach ones, and the ones in Paris, and the Galapagos! All fun places to go. 😀

  10. I love these choices, Wendy. I went with visit rather than live because as much as I would like to see them all, I am a homebody. I have been to Utah, but we never made it to Canyonlands Park.

  11. I haven’t seen anyone else have a book for the Galapagos Islands! Very creative. Nantucket would be cool too. And there are so many places to go in the world, I’d take ANY of them!
Thanks for the visit. Terrie @ Bookshelf Journeys

  12. Oooh Virgin River, yes I do love those fictional little towns – and that reminds me that S4 is on Netflix, I should queue that up!

  13. The 100 Aker Wood- would love to go there! PEI as well. The secret garden… and the Galapagos! I’ve always wanted to go there. Love your list. 🙂

I love the way that books can transport you to so many different places. It’s also lovely sometimes to be able to visit somewhere and see the actual location. Love these choices Wendy.

I like the sound of Something Wilder by Christina Lauren, that’s a place I’d like to go to.
