What I’ve been up to?

I’m still in Southern California and will be here for another few days. My sister’s surgery went really well and she’s in a bit of pain, but not too bad. I’m glad I’m here to help. She lives in a large retirement community and it’s like an adult playground. My other sister and her husband live in this community too. My brother-in-law took me on a fun little golf cart tour of the community, and we’ve been to the pool a couple of times too.

We went to San Juan Capistrano to a tea house and had delicious tea with my sister and her daughter-in-law and had a nice time.

I was going to go back home to Flagstaff this coming Tuesday, but the weather is not looking suitable for my trip. Tuesday and Wednesday they are expecting heavy rain in So Cal and snow at home in Flagstaff. So I’ll probably stay here in So Cal until Thursday or Friday to miss the bad weather. I have a few more restaurants to try and it’s not much of a hardship to spend time here in the warmer weather.

Last week I read:

I had a good week of reading. And I enjoyed all these books.

  1. I’m happy to hear your sister is healing well, and that you are getting a mini vacation. The San Juan Capistrano tea house sounds, and looks, delightful! I would have stayed to avoid the bad weather, too. 🙂

I love the cover for Hello Beautiful. 📙✨

I hope you had a wonderful week. ☀

  2. Glad your sister is doing well. How wonderful that your other sister and her husband live in the same community as she does. Hope you have a great week! 🙂

  3. Glad your sister’s surgery went well; sending best wishes for a speedy recovery. The community she lives in does sound lovely. Wish you a great week of reading ahead!

  4. Glad your sister’s surgery went well, Wendy. Don’t blame you for staying extra days – I’d also want to miss that weather.

  5. I’m glad your sister’s surgery and recovery are going well. You are so brave to buck up and endure extra days in the warmer climes and try out some more restaurants. 😉 Have a great time and a safe trip back home.

  6. I’m glad to hear your sister’s surgery went well. I would stay where it is warm too, and the longer you can help her, the better for her. It sounds like you are having a nice time. I am going to watch The Elephant Whisperers tonight and let you know what I think. I hope you enjoy the Sherry Thomas book, I loved it. Enjoy your week.

  7. Glad to hear your sister’s surgery went well, and she’s recovering nicely. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in SoCal. It’s raining here in NorCal and we’re supposed to have rain the whole week. I’m reading In Isabeau’s Eyes. or rather, I just started it. Happy to see you enjoyed it!

  8. Fun that you visited a tea room and got some time in by the pool while visiting your relations. Smart to check the weather before making the trip home. Love that you’re going back to the first Lady Sherlock book.

    Have a good week, Wendy!

  9. I need to start the Bromance Club. And Lacie Waldon as well. Glad your sister’s surgery went okay. I wish there were more retirement communities around where I live. My mom and stepdad are now going to be both retired and it would be nice if they could find a new house that had less stairs and was a little less to take care of. But with the housing market the way it is, I don’t know if they will right now. Have a great week!

    • I’m considering moving to the retirement community in the next few years. It’s easy living and it would be nice to live near my sisters and my nieces and nephew.

I’m glad that your sister’s surgery went well. Living somewhere that’s like an adult playground sounds great to me. Enjoy your last few days in the sunshine and enjoy your 3 books. I do like the look of A study of Scarlet Women.

  11. I’ll be checking out the documentary – I haven’t seen ANYTHING nominated at the Oscars, so this will be the first. 🙂 I have the Elizabeth Berg ARC coming up soon on my reading list too – hope we enjoy it! Enjoy the rest of your stay with family and have a terrific week.

  13. It’s so funny to think of going to the pool in March! Glad you got to enjoy it. I’m glad your sister’s surgery went well and she is recovery well. Have a great week!

  14. I’m glad your sister’s surgery went well. The tea house looks amazing! The Elephant Whisperers looks worth the watch. Enjoy your week!

  15. So happy to hear your sister’s surgery went well Wendy! Enjoy your last few days in California and have a safe trip home!📚💜

  16. We also had rainy weather this week which is very unlikely. Normally we would be feeling like living in an oven so it’s a relief to have rain and pleasant weather. It’s great your sister’s surgery went well. I hope she feels better soon. That tea and toast pic is making me hungry. Have a lovely Sunday!

    • I’m glad that you’re enjoying your time with family and that your sister’s surgery went well. I need to watch The Elephant Whisperers. We tried watching Everything Everywhere All at Once but it wasn’t for us. Have a wonderful week Wendy and safe travels home.

      • Thank you, Jodie! I didn’t try to watch Everything Everywhere All at Once, but everyone I know who watched it, either didn’t finish it or just didn’t like it.
