What I’ve been up to?

I’m still in Southern California and will be here another week. I’m enjoying myself very much, and spending time with my family has been nice. We took my grandniece to a local farm/petting zoo, and she loved it.

The Barn
2-week old piglets
She’s fascinated with the pigs!

My sister will have her surgery on Friday, and then I’ll stay for a few days until she’s ok on her own.

Daylight savings time! I hope everyone does ok with the time change last night. I am experiencing the time change for the first time in 7 years! I’m in California, so I have to change the time like the rest of the country. I am missing living in Arizona today as they don’t change the time.

It was my wedding anniversary yesterday. 34 years! My husband and I are apart, as he stayed back in Arizona. But, during our life, we missed many anniversaries due to our life in the military. We’ll celebrate once I get back home.

Last week I read:

I had a good week of reading. And I enjoyed all these books. Especially A Tempest at Sea and The Love Wager.

Next week I hope to get to:

I hope I can get a few of these books read this week.

  1. Glad you are getting to enjoy family time and that you will be there for your sister. It is too bad to be away from your husband though, especially on your anniversary. Happy Anniversary. I don’t think Robert and I missed any together although there were years I forgot. He always remembered and would rib me terribly!
    Your reading looks good.
I’ve read the first book in the Speedwell series. And I have heard of at least three of the other authors but they aren’t in my Goodreads list which is only since 2008.
I hope your week goes well. Happy Reading!

  2. Aww the piglets! What fun! And happy anniversary! My husband travels a lot for work and we’ve missed a lot of anniversaries and birthdays so I can relate. I hope you are able to go have a nice dinner or do something special when you get home. Have a great week!

  3. Happy Anniversary, Wendy! We’re big Ted Lasso fans here. We rewatched a few episodes to be prepared for the season premiere this week.

  4. Happy anniversary! ⛪💐🎉

I wish the plans for not changing the time anymore was for Standard Time and not DST. I hate DST. I like my extra light in the morning, not at night. 🙄

Sending healing energy for your sister. 🤗

Have a wonderful new week. ☀

  5. Happy Anniversary! Those piglets are so cute. 😀 We have a petting farm up the road from where I live. They have so many goats , adults and babies, in the spring. It is fun to visit even for us adults. 🙂

  6. Happy anniversary Wendy! And your grandniece is so very cute!! We love Ted Lasso too but need to catch up on the last season still..

  7. Happy Anniversary!

I ended up DNFing (at least for now) Solomon’s Crown. It was boring me to tears. I’m reading Weyward now and kind of having the same problem but not quite as bad. Historical fiction if it’s not mixed with fantasy, mystery, or thriller genres is very tough for me. But like you, I love, love, loved A Tempest At Sea and want so much to read the 6 books that came before it (see – history and mystery genres mixed together works for me 😂)

Glad you’re having such a good time with your family. Sending positive vibes to your sister for a successful surgery and a quick recovery.

  8. Happy Anniversary, Wendy. I have a few of those books to read, Wendy and am looking forward to them. Have a great week and I hope your sister’s surgery goes well.

  9. Happy Anniversary! Speedy recovery to your sister, but it looks like your enjoying your stay. I wish the rest of the states would copy Arizona. It’s such a pain to change the time. Happy reading this week!

  10. Happy anniversary! And looks like a fun trip. Getting to see familyt is always nice. 🙂

I’m not a fan of the time change as it always seems to take me a week to adjust ha ha!

  11. THE PHOTOS OH MY GOSH I LOVE THEM SO MUCH THE BABY PIGLETS ARE ADORABLE OKAY 😍😍 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THEM!!!!! ALSO YAY ON ENJOYING ALL THE BOOKS!! happy anniversary and i hope you still had a great day either way!!

  12. Happy Anniversary!!! That’s impressive and what a fun time spending with family! The time change is rough and today my kid has let me know it. haha. We love Ted Lasso!! So excited for season 3! I hope you have a wonderful week!

  13. Happy Anniversary!!!!

Your grandneice is tooooooooooooooooo cute!!!! Look at her!!!!

If you love Ted Lasso you must also try Shrinking, created by the same team. Harrison Ford is so good at comedy!

Hope all goes well with your sister’s surgery and that’s great that you can stay to help her out.

  14. Happy Anniversary, Wendy! Those piglets are sooo cute. Didn’t know Arizona didn’t do the time change. I just assumed everyone in the country did it. I’ve always had to do it and the Spring Ahead is my least favorite as we lose an hour. Enjoy your time in California! Hope your sister’s surgery goes well.

  15. Happy Anniversary, Wendy! Glad you are enjoying your time in California! And, enjoying lots of books! I hope your sister’s surgery and recovery goes well!

  16. Hi Wendy!

Happy Anniversary to you! Glad you are enjoying your time with family. And you still manage to read so many books. You truly are my hero!

I’ve read The Thursday Murder Club and it’s good! I haven’t read any of the rest of the series, although I have the next one on my shelf! Hope you get to enjoy it.

Have a lovely week and enjoy your family and some reading!

Thank you so much! My sister can’t move around much. So there is plenty of time for reading.

  17. So jealous that you guys don’t have to deal with the Daylight Savings time. As much as I like the Fall one where we “gain” an hour, the spring one is no fun and I wish they’d just finally leave it. The petting zoo looks like fun. Hope your sister’s surgery goes well!

  18. Senate passed the bill to keep us on Daylight Savings Time, but it still requires the House vote and the President’s signature. I absolutely despise the change twice a year and have always said that Arizona “does it right.” I think its effects are worse if you are working, but even retired I think it is a disruption to my body. My husband declared this morning that for Lent he is giving up Daylight Savings Time.🤣 Great idea!

  19. Happy Anniversary Wendy. I hope all goes well with your sister’s surgery. Daylight Savings Time is just awful. One thing I miss about living in AZ…..not changing the clocks!😂Have a wonderful week and happy reading!📚💜

  20. Happy Anniversary! The little pigs are so cute! I hope everything goes well for your sister. I really dislike Daylight Savings and wish they would get rid of it for good!

  21. I am also looking forward to that new Lora Leigh. It will be interesting to see what she delivers there. Glad you ended up loving that Sherry Thomas. Happy Anniversary. Hope the time change isn’t too much of an adjustment. I do know senate passed a law that this is the last time we will have to experience the change and daylight savings which will be so nice.

  22. Happy Anniversary Wendy! We will also be celebrating 34 years later this year. BC is ready to stay on daylight savings time and we’re hoping that the bill allowing states to change permanently to daylight savings time actually makes it to congress this time (it was just reintroduced). Hopefully this will be our last time change. Have a great week ahead Wendy.
