What I’ve been up to?

I’m in Southern California this week. I had to leave last Tuesday to miss a snowstorm to be sure I was able to get to California before the snow made it impossible to travel. It worked great because I got out of Flagstaff several hours before they got 21″ of snow!

My sister was supposed to have surgery last Friday, but it got changed and now I’m “stuck” in Sunny California until they give her a new date for her surgery. Hopefully next week sometime. In the meantime, we’re hanging out, and I got to spend some time with my family including my precious grandnieces. And I get to enjoy more sunshine and moderate temperatures!

Last week I read:

I had a good week of reading. And I enjoyed all these books. Especially A Sinister Revenge and The Last Beekeeper.

Audiobooks:

I LOVED both of these audiobooks!

Next week I hope to get to:

I hope I can get a few of these books read.

What I Watched:

Daisy Jones and the Six!! Based on the book by Taylor Jenkins Reid. The first three episodes were excellent and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

  1. I hope you are enjoying your stay with your sister and that her surgery goes well. We haven’t been out Orange County’s way in long while. Orange County is pretty. We don’t get out that way much though. I am glad you made it safely and missed the snow. The mountains near where I live have had a heck of a time, people trapped unable to get out and help unable to get in. They are finally getting some relief. My daughter has science camp next week and there will probably still be plenty of snow. She’s excited.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reading!

  2. The cover of Sinister Revenge is so beautiful… And I have been meaning to read Remarkably Bright Creatures for a long time now..

  3. Ahhhhhhhh I hope the SoCal weather is still beautiful when I get there at the end of the month! Those are bee-u-tee-ful pictures you posted.

Wow! I didn’t know Flag got that much snow! I’d better call my friend, Jacquie, and make sure she’s ok.

  4. Definitely looks like there are worse places to be stuck! Especially since you’re missing icy weather. I love the Deanna Raybourn series and really enjoyed A Sinister Revenge and A Murderous Relation was also a fun one. I’ve heard such good things about Daisy Jones and the Six. I’m trying to decide if I should watch it or read it first.
    Have a great week!

    • Both the book and the tv series are pretty close IMO. I hope you enjoy the book and the tv show. Have a good week, Katherine

  5. Good of you to head out and help your sister through her surgery, hopefully she gets it soon. Ah, cute to have time with the grand-nieces and lovely to visit sunny Newport Beach.
I really enjoyed A Sinister Revenge last week, too.

    Have a good week, Wendy!

  6. Good timing! And now you get to miss out on the cold temps and snow. Newport is so pretty. Nice to hear you’re enjoying some family time and I hope the surgery gets back on the schedule soon.

We left my house on Saturday before more storms came through and are about 20 miles south staying at my sister’s house. We are set to fly out to Cabo San Lucas on Thursday early so I didn’t want to get snowed in again and possibly miss our flight. Hopefully by the time we fly back the snow will be melted and our power and internet will be back on.

Loved The Thursday Murder Club and I have A Sinister Revenge to read this week. Glad to hear you loved it!

  7. So much snow! Bet you’re glad to have missed it, Wendy. I didn’t read the book, but the show Daisy Jones is on my list for this week. I’ve heard good things.

  8. You are being such a supportive sister putting up with the weather and visits with relatives while she waits for her new surgery date. It is so frustrating when that happens. I hope it happens soon and her recovery goes smoothly. You had a great week of reading and it looks like some good books coming up. I will watch for your review of The Love Wager as I have it coming up as well. The Thursday Murder Club series is so good, I hope you love it. Have a great week, Wendy.

  9. At least you missed snowy California. Enjoy the sun! I was just reviewing my review of the Daisy Jones and the Six book from 2019. I am really looking forward to the movie. I am in awe of your organization where you can predict what you will blog on each day. I need to practice more discipline on my blogging schedule. I’ll use you as my muse.

  10. You are keeping your chin up despite that sunny weather. Good for you! Best wishes to your sister. It is so frustrating to want to get something over with only to have it delayed. It’s great that you can be there for her.

  11. Your reviews are often listed first on my Goodreads anymore so not only have I read many of these books too, I already know what you think of them :). The ones we both read are very good books! Glad you had a wonderful time in Alabama!

  12. Sounds like you left town just in time! With those pics you shared it looks like it’s not much of a hardship to be stuck there. 🙂 So glad you enjoyed Before I Let Go. That was such a powerful and emotional story.

  13. I hope your sister’s surgery’s rescheduled soon just so you know what to expect. I couldn’t think of a better place to be stuck, though. I hope the weather is nice and I hope your sister’s surgery goes well!

Thank you, Jenni! The weather has been cool. But much better than cold and snowy

  14. I’m glad you’re enjoying beautiful California! Hope the surgery is rescheduled and well wishes for her quick recovery. And wow 21″ of snow in Flagstaff! I want to read Daisy Jones and the Six, the show looks so good too. Enjoy your week!

  15. I guess “stuck” is a relative term. 🙂 My goodness, you’ve been a busy reader. I see you’re reading the Victoria Speedwell books – hope you like them, they seem like they’d be up your alley. I’ve got Thurs Murder Club on my radar along with the Finlay Donovan series. Now I just need some time! Have fun in CA.

  16. I’m sorry you are “stuck” in sunny California, LOL! Love the pictures you shared. That is a LOT of snow and glad you were able to get out ahead of it. Have a great week! I hope your sister is able to have her surgery soon!

  17. How disappointing for your sister’s surgery to be cancelled. I hope it’s not too long before it’s rescheduled. I loved the first three episodes of Daisy Jones too! Have a wonderful week ahead Wendy.

  18. Lucky that you just missed all that snow hitting! Also good luck to your sister with her surgery and enjoy your family time. I haven’t read Daisy Jones and the Six yet but I just borrowed the book from the library. I hope it lives up to the hype!

  19. Janette

Definitely a good job that you missed all of that snow. Hope you enjoy the Californian sunshine and enjoy all of your books.

  20. Ooh, I’m just a little envious of you. Enjoy that gorgeous California weather! I hope you get to visit the beach (if you like that sort of thing). 🙂

  21. Stuck in California?😂😂 I hope everything goes well with your sister’s surgery Wendy! Enjoy the sunshine and have a wonderful week!🌞☕🤗📚💜

    • Wendy

It’s a real hardship spending time in this beautiful weather near the beach 😂😂

  22. Looks gorgeous where you are. Hope all goes well with your sister’s surgery.
I enjoyed listening to Daisy Jones and the Six on audio. It’ll be interesting to know if the film is as good as the book.

Beautiful pictures, I hope your sister’s surgery goes ok and hope you have a great week 💕
