Happy New Year!! I hope you all have a happy and healthy new year.

What I’ve been up to?

We had a nice family Christmas, although it was my first without our oldest son who is now living in Montana.

The day after Christmas we escaped to go camping in the Arizona desert and so far we’ve missed 2 snowstorms that have hit Flagstaff! We’ve had some rain (mostly at night) and some cloudy weather, but the temperatures have been moderate and comfortable. It’s been nice to go out for walks and sit outside without heavy coats on. For this past week, we stayed at Alamo State Park. Alamo lake is known for being “the best bass fishing in Arizona”. But, since we don’t fish, we enjoy looking at the lake.

Tomorrow we move on to Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, which is down in the southern part of the state and close to the border with Mexico. We’ll be there for a week.

2022 Summary :

I’m not going to do a 2022 summary post, just the goals post I did yesterday. I read over 250 books in 2022 and enjoyed just about all of them!

Last week I read:

I read a lot of books the week before Christmas, but they have slowed considerably since we left home to go camping. My favorite book was Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and it was terrific. It’s one of my favorite books of 2022 and could be my most absolute favorite. It’s a long book, but so well written and the story is one that just sticks with me.

All the other books were great too!

⭐️⭐⭐⭐⭐

Next week I hope to get to:

What I’ve Been Watching

We’ve been enjoying the new series 1923, which is a prequel (origin story?) to Yellowstone. So far it’s pretty good. It has Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren in it.
