What I’ve been up to?

I had another quiet week. I caught up on some reading and chores around the house.

Our son called us from Montana and couldn’t get his car to start as it was -8° F that morning. As he lives in a tiny town, they have to order a new battery for him as they don’t have one. But, also because he lives in a tiny town, he had a lot of help, and people are very kind. He can walk to work, the grocery store, and the gym, so he doesn’t need to have his car for a few days.

It’s my husband’s birthday tomorrow, so we’re going to spend a couple of days in Sedona doing some, hiking, and eating out. Sedona is only a 40-minute drive from our home, and it’s usually 10 -15 degrees warmer too. December is my favorite time to go to Sedona as it’s all decorated for Christmas, but there aren’t many tourists until the actual holiday start at the end of the month.

Last two weeks I read:

I had a quiet week so I was able to get a lot of reading in. These were all good! I especially loved The Ingenue and All the Lost Places!

Next week I hope to get to:

What I’ve Been Watching

I’ve been watching Firefly Lane on Netflix. It’s adapted from Kristin Hannah’s book of the same name. I read the book last year. Like most adaptations, the book is much better, but, I’m enjoying the Netflix series. My biggest issue with the series is how it moves back and forth through time so often. It confuses me a bit.

  1. Hope your husband is having a great birthday week so far.. All the books you have listed look good.. It has been a while since I read a book by Danielle Steel….

  2. It’s a good thing your son can walk to work and to the store. It’s too early for -8 degrees. Brrrrr… ⛄

Happy birthday to your husband. 🎈

I hope your week has started well. ☀

  3. That is the absolute truth. It’s hard to get stuff done in a small town but the people are very helpful and friendly. I’m glad your son is able to walk to places and not feel stranded without his car.

We went to Sedona often when I was a kid but only passing through on the way to the Grand Canyon with a stop at Slide Rock. I’ve never seen anything else in Sedona. LOL

    • I have only driven past Slide Rock, it’s always so crowded now, and I’m too old to be sliding around rocks! It is a beautiful area.

  4. I suppose there are pros and cons with living in a tiny town (same as anywhere else) but one of them has to be helpful people! And being able to walk to where you need. My Florida brain cannot comprehend -8 degrees! Hope you had a great time in Sedona!

  5. -8 degrees – I’m cold just thinking about it! Good thing he can walk to the important places, and also nice to know folks are so kind there. Happy birthday to your hubby, Wendy, and have a great trip!

  6. Wow, Montana is cold! My in-laws used to live in a little town outside of Missoula and they kept their car in the garage and they had a block heater on their vehicles. I guess the cold is hard on batteries. Nice that he didn’t need his car asap. I hope you have fun in Sedona! I like to beat the crowds too. It sounds like you’re visiting at a nice time. Hope you post some pictures!

  7. Happy Birthday to your husband. I hope you have a lovely time in Sedona. I am glad your son has support of friends and neighbors where he lives. Hopefully it won’t take too long for the new battery to come in. Back and a Spell and Villa both sound really good to me. I hope you are enjoying them! Have a great week, Wendy!

  8. I am still looking for my copy of All the Lost Things to arrive in the mail! I am glad to hear you enjoyed it. Happy birthday to your husband, I hope you all have a great time celebrating him!

  9. So good that your son can walk to essential places. I guess the small town atmosphere we read about in cozy mysteries can be real. Cold can be so hard on batteries. Have a great trip. Happy Birthday to your husband. Sedona seems like a great place to visit as everyone else goes from cold to colder.😂

  10. Pets of Park Avenue looks so sweet. I love that the town your son’s in has such lovely people but I certainly don’t envy the weather. A happy birthday to your husband and hope you have a great trip. Wish you a wonderful week ahead

    • Thank you very much, Mallika! I don’t like him being so far away, but I’m glad he’s in a town with such wonderful people.

  11. -8 does not sound fun. I lived in MN and had jumper cables and had to be jumped many times in the -10 to -30 weather. But people are kind which makes life easier. You trip to Sedona sounds lovely. I’ve been there twice and once on my Harley to ride around in the beautiful hills.

  12. Yeah, I guess that cold would cause issues for cars! Sedona sounds like a nice trip. Especially if it is decorated but not busy! You read some good books this week. I haven’t read any of them yet, but a few are on my TBR. Have a great week!

  13. Have a great time in Sedona and happy birthday to your husband. -8 will definitely kill a car battery. Time to google ways to stop this from happening. I imagine people have come up with some creative solutions. Enjoy your trip!

    • Thank you, Tessa. My son is getting lots of help from his co workers and neighbors who live there, so I’m confident they will find a solution soon.

  14. Happy Birthday to your hubby and I hope you guys have a lovely trip!

All the Lost places will grab my attention for the cover and title alone. How was Pets of Park Avenue?

Have a lovely week and safe travels!

  16. Happy birthday to your hubby Wendy. Sorry about your sons troubles but at least he was able to find help! I love Sedona and I hope you have a wonderful time there! I love walking the main street and browsing all the shops, but what really blew me away was the Chapel of the Holy Cross! What a beautiful place! Have an awesome week and happy reading!!📚🌞☕🤗💜
