What I’ve been up to:
I had a wonderful time camping this week and got home on Friday afternoon. We went into Durango, Colorado, and did the river walk along the Animas river that runs through town
Then we went to Mesa Verde National Park which features one of the largest preserved alcove settlements. We signed up for a ranger led tour of the site and it was just amazing. Both how complex the site is and how well preserved it was.
Last week I read:
As expected, I did not get much read this past week, but I have a quiet week ahead, so hopefully, I’ll make up for it. These were both good books, and my favorite was Well, That Was Unexpected by Jesse Q. Sutanto.

I’ve always wanted to go to Cliff Palace and the rest of your photos are absolutely stunning. Happy Endings at Mermaid Point looks fun. Have a wonderful week!
The Animas River is beautiful and the Cliff Palace looks amazing! It looks like you had a wonderful vacation! I want to read the Sarah Hogle at some point. I enjoyed her last book.
Thank you for sharing your gorgeous photos! 😍
It’s fun to hear about your adventures. Do you go camping in the winter, too? I ask because one of my siblings will go camping no matter how hot or cold it is outside. He adores the outdoors in all seasons.
The Cliff Palace looks amazing. Wow, it’s preserved well. I wish the people who built it could see just how well it’s held up.
I had to go and read a little about the settlement, what a stunning historical site.
Mad Honey is on my TBR
Wishing you a great reading week
Beautiful pics, Wendy. That Alcove Settlement is amazing. I watched the first episode of Rings of Power so far and need to get caught up. Have a great week!
I also watched all 4 episodes of Power of Rings, I have to say I haven’t read books before Hobbit and LOTR so I find this very inetresting.
Great photos from your trip! It’s no wonder that you didn’t get as much reading done… with views like that my focus wouldn’t be on reading, either. 🙂
LOL, I’m always busier when we camp.
Wow, that Cliff Palace. Thanks for sharing the pics. Have a good week.
Thank you!
Those photo’s are beautiful. Enjoy your reading this week.
Thank you, Sarita!
I love your photos. Cliff Palace looks great. My office staff went on a surprise trip to Denver back in 2020. We all had fun but our favorite sites were north of Denver. Particularly a lovely muffin restaurant, The Huckleberry Bakery, and Tea Room.
Looks like you have some fun reading going on. Have a good week and Happy Reading!
Next time I’m near Denver I”m going to look for The Huckleberry Bakery and Tea Room
Your pictures are wonderful, Wendy. That alcove settlement looks awesome. Something I would love to see. The cover for Well, That Was Unexpected didn’t appeal to me at all, but it is great that you enjoyed the book. Have a wonderful, relaxing, upcoming week.
Thank you! That cover isn’t a good representation of the book at all.
Glad to know Sutanto has written another book. I enjoyed the Aunties books. Love the Cliff Palace pictures.
Thank you!
I’m glad you had a nice trip to Durango and Mesa Verde. This is a great time of year to go.
I love fall camping and travelling. Here in the Southwest, its a great time to travel.
That preserved Alcove Settlement is so cool! I’ve never seen anything like that before. All the pictures are gorgeous😍. So glad you had a good time!
Thank you, Tessa! There are quite a few alcove settlements in the Southwest, but none are as large or as well preserved as this one
I’m glad you had a great time camping. Durango looks lovely. I’ve always wanted to go to Mesa Verde, but I’ve never had the chance. I love your pictures! I hope you have a great week!
Thank you, Jenni!
I love that river pic! And I’ve been enjoying Lord of the Rings too. Pretty well done show!
Hope you have a nice week!
Thank you, Greg
Those alcove settlements look amazing! Sounds like a fun, leisurely trip. Read some of your reviews – eager for Thread Collectors to make it to my library! Have a great week.
We never travel in a hurry anymore :). We both like to take our time, and have a relaxing vacation.
I love your pictures from your travels! I hope you have a great reading week!
Thank you, Cindy
How beautiful your photos are. I read about Mesa Verde in a Nevada Barr mystery book with the park ranger as the main character. But I need to see it for real at some point.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
It’s an amazing place. I hope you get to see it one day
Mesa Verde looks so beautiful!
I agree! Thank you, Carrie
I went to Mesa Verde with my dad when I was really little. I should try to go again as an adult I think! I’m excited to read the new Jesse Q. Sutanto book, glad to hear it was good! Have a great week!

I really want to go to Mesa Verde! If all goes well, we’re actually driving out to Colorado next week, but we won’t go that far west. Hopefully one day though. Beautiful photos!
