I’m happy with the books I got this week!
I’ve been wanting to read the Bridgerton Series for over a year now. So, I’ve downloaded the first two books and I can’t wait to read this entire series.
Synopsis for the Duke and I: Simon Basset, the irresistible Duke of Hastings, has hatched a plan to keep himself free from the town’s marriage-minded society mothers. He pretends to be engaged to the lovely Daphne Bridgerton. After all, it isn’t as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry – though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon’s heart beating a bit faster.
And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable. But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, she soon forgets that their courtship is a complete sham. And now she has to do the impossible and keep herself from losing her heart and soul completely to the handsome hell-raiser who has sworn off marriage forever!
Synopsis for The Viscount Who Loved Me: 1814 promises to be another eventful season, but not, this author believes, for Anthony Bridgerton, London’s most elusive bachelor, who has shown no indication that he plans to marry. And in all truth, why should he? When it comes to playing the consummate rake, nobody does it better… – Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers, April 1814.
But this time the gossip columnists have it wrong. Anthony Bridgerton hasn’t just decided to marry – he’s even chosen a wife! The only obstacle is his intended’s older sister, Kate Sheffield – the most meddlesome woman ever to grace a London ballroom. The spirited schemer is driving Anthony mad with her determination to stop the betrothal, but when he closes his eyes at night, Kate’s the woman haunting his increasingly erotic dreams.
Contrary to popular belief, Kate is quite sure that reformed rakes do not make the best husbands – and Anthony Bridgerton is the most wicked rogue of them all. Kate is determined to protect her sister – but she fears her own heart is vulnerable. And when Anthony’s lips touch hers, she’s suddenly afraid she might not be able to resist the reprehensible rake herself.
I read the previous book in this series, A Perfect Equation, and loved it.
Synopsis: You couldn’t design a better hero than the very eligible and extremely charming Earl Grantham. Unless, of course, you are Margaret Gault, who wants nothing to do with the man who broke her youthful heart.
Widowed and determined, Margaret Gault has returned to Athena’s Retreat and the welcoming arms of her fellow secret scientists with an ambitious plan in mind: to establish England’s first woman-owned engineering firm. But from the moment she sets foot in London her plans are threatened by greedy investors and–at literally every turn–the irritatingly attractive Earl Grantham, a man she can never forgive.
George Willis, the Earl Grantham, is thrilled that the woman he has loved since childhood has returned to London. Not as thrilling, however, is her decision to undertake an engineering commission from his political archnemesis. When Margaret’s future and Grantham’s parliamentary reforms come into conflict, Grantham must use every ounce of charm he possesses–along with his stunning good looks and flawless physique, of course–to win Margaret over to his cause.
Facing obstacles seemingly too large to dismantle, will Grantham and Margaret remain forever disconnected or can they find a way to bridge their differences, rekindle the passion of their youth, and construct a love built to last?
I saw this on a blog and went and requested it. It looks light and fun. 🙂
Synopsis: When two best men in a wedding party fall for each other, they realize love isn’t a piece of cake in this hilarious and heartfelt romantic comedy debut by screenwriter Sidney Karger.
Max Moody thought he had everything figured out. He’s trying to live his best life in New York City and has the best friend a gay guy could ask for: Paige. She and Max grew up next door to each other in the suburbs of Chicago. She can light up any party. She finishes his sentences. She’s always a reliable splunch (they don’t like to use the word brunch) partner. But then Max’s whole world is turned upside down when Paige suddenly announces some huge news: she’s engaged and wants Max to be her man of honor. Max was always the romantic one who imagined he would get married before the unpredictable Paige and is shocked to hear she’s ready to settle down. But it turns out there’s not just one new man in Paige’s life—there are two.
There’s the groom, Austin, who’s a perfectly nice guy. Then there’s his charming, fun and ridiculously handsome gay younger brother, Chasten, who is Austin’s best man. As Paige’s wedding draws closer, Max, the introverted Midwesterner, and Chasten, the social butterfly East Coaster, realize they’re like oil and water. Yet they still have to figure out how to coexist in Paige’s life while not making her wedding festivities all about them. But can the tiny romantic spark between these two very different guys transform their best man supporting roles into the leading best men in each other’s lives?
That’s all I have for this week. Have you read any of these books? What’s on your list to read? Comment below!
A great looking haul. I thought that The Duke and I was ok, but I absolutely loved The Viscount Who Loved Me.
Have a great week!
I had no idea the Bridgerton show was based on books. I learn something new every day. ☺
I have enjoyed reading/listening to many Julia Quinn titles. I haven’t felt inclined to watch the show. Of course, I don’t watch much TV/shows at all.
A Love by Design looks like one I would like.
Hope you enjoy them all!

Heard a lot about Bridgeton, but did not read the books or watched the series.
It’s not for everyone, I like it very much..
The Viscount Who Loved Me is one of my favorite historical romances. I didn’t watch the show but I read the synopsis and there are a lot of differences. I hope you love it!

I read the first Bridgerton after the show came out. I haven’t read the second, but I didn’t love the second season. I’m excited for Colin’s season next though! Will see if I read the book before or after again. Enjoy!
Yes! I’m hoping to get to the third book before the next season.
I’ll be looking out for your reviews of the Bridgerton books. Hope they turn out as enjoyable as the series. The rest of your list looks great as well.

I’m glad you finally got the first two Bridgerton books. I need to follow suit since I’ve been wanting to read them as well. 😀 I can’t wait to see what you think.
So far, I’m enjoying them. Even though the author’s descriptions of the characters are very different, I still “see” the actors from the series when I read it.
I hope you love Bridgerton, Wendy. Hopefully watching the series won’t ruin them for you. It was a small haul this week, for you, so I hope you love all your new additions.
Thank you, Carla. I am enjoying the Bridgerton series very much. Have a great week!

I should broaden my horizons and read some of these books that are not cozies for a change. I think I would enjoy them. 🙂
I love cozies, but don’t read a lot of them. I need to broaden my reading as well.
Wow! I thought my haul was small this week…….looks like some awesome books coming up for you Wendy. Enjoy your weekend and happy reading!📚🤗☔🌞☕💜
Thank you, Susan. The haul is small on purpose, as I want to keep up with my reviews. But, it’s been difficult to pass on so many books!
I actually prefer the TV series to the Bridgerton Novels which is very unusual for me. Hope you enjoy them though. Have a great reading week.
The series is so visually stunning, and no amount of description can show the beauty of the sets and costumes.
Thank you, Kristi!
A nice selection of books and audiobooks Wendy! I hope you enjoy them all. Have a wonderful weekend!
