Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

The Wish by Nicholas Sparks
Publication Date: September 28, 2021
Page Count: 400 pages
Publisher: Grand Central Publishing
Genre: Fiction, Romance, Contemporary

Synopsis:

1996 was the year that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at sixteen to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind . . . until she meets Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. Handsome, genuine, and newly admitted to West Point, Bryce gradually shows her how much there is to love about the wind-swept beach town—and introduces her to photography, a passion that will define the rest of her life.

By 2019, Maggie is a renowned travel photographer. She splits her time between running a successful gallery in New York and photographing remote locations around the world. But this year she is unexpectedly grounded over Christmas, struggling to come to terms with a sobering medical diagnosis. Increasingly dependent on a young assistant, she finds herself becoming close to him.

As they count down the last days of the season together, she begins to tell him the story of another Christmas, decades earlier—and the love that set her on a course she never could have imagined.

Why I Can’t Wait!

I’m an unapologetic Nicholas Sparks fan. I have not read all his books, but the ones I have read, have left a long-lasting impression on me. This is a Christmas book too!

  1. I love Nicholas Sparks’ books as well although they are always such emotional reads that I have to plan to read them when I’m sure I have enough tissues on hand! I hope that you love this book.

    • That’s funny Jodie! I started a very emotional book, and had to put it away for a few days because I didn’t want to read it on my son’s birthday because I didn’t want to cry on his birthday.

  2. Funny thing is Wendy, I almost chose this one for my Can’t Wait Wednesday. I am looking forward to this one as I love his books.

  3. I’ve never read a Nicholas Sparks book, but I’ve seen some of the stories adapted to film. Hope you get your hands on this soon and love it!

I’m so psyched for Kati Wilde’s EVIL TWIN (part of a multi-author series called Villains in Love), which is a fantasy novel about a twin who takes the place of his brother (the king) at his wedding to a princess. Amazon is still showing EVIL TWIN as being released on July 31. Fingers crossed.
