Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

Incense and Sensibility by by Sonali Dev
Publication Date: July 06, 2021
Page Count: 400 pages
Publisher: William Morrow
Genre: Women’s Fiction

Synopsis:

Yash Raje, California’s first Indian-American gubernatorial candidate, has always known exactly what he wants—and how to use his privileged background to get it. He attributes his success to a simple mantra: control your feelings and you can control the world. But when a hate crime at a rally critically injures his friend, Yash’s easy life suddenly feels like a lie, his control an illusion. When he tries to get back on the campaign trail, he blacks out with panic.

Desperate to keep Yash’s condition from leaking to the media, his family turns to the one person they trust—his sister’s best friend, India Dashwood, California’s foremost stress management coach. Raised by a family of yoga teachers, India has helped San Francisco’s high strung overachievers for a decade without so much as altering her breath. But this man—with his boundless ambition, simmering intensity, and absolute faith in his political beliefs—is like no other.

Yash has spent a lifetime repressing everything to succeed, including their one magical night ten years ago—a too brief, too bright passion that if rekindled threatens to destroy the dream he’s willingly shouldered for his family and community . . . until now.

Why I Can’t Wait!

I read the first of this series Pride, Prejudice, and Other Flavors by Sonali Dev and just adored it. Incense and Sensibility is the third book in the series, and I have not read the second book Recipe for Persuasion, so I’ll have to read both the second and the third books all at once. Should be fun!

  1. I have seen Recipe for Persuasion around Goodreads. (I always notice Jane Austen inspired books since my blog is named after Persuasion.)
I hope you enjoy reading all of the books in this series!

    • Thank you Sandra. It’s a good series so far! And I’ve heard good things from reviewers with advance copies.

  2. I featured this one today too! Like you, I still need to read the second book, but I loved the first. I hope you we both enjoy Incense and Sensibility!

The first of the month is when Harlequin releases its ebooks, and—because I am a Harlequin Presents angsty-heartache junkie—I am looking forward to tomorrow morning when I can download the latest HP from Jackie Ashenden (one of the writers in my HP Queens pantheon): THE INNOCENT CARRYING HIS LEGACY. Based on the book’s blurb, the story features an “only in the Harlequin Presents universe” plot: the heroine agreed to carry her best friend’s IVF baby; then midway through the pregnancy, the friend died. When the heroine seeks out the baby’s father, she discovers that he is…a sheikh! As I said, only in the Harlequin Presents universe.
