This reversal of fortune story features Cass, who once lived a life of privilege and wealth until her father was imprisoned for fraud and her family became the villains of New York society. Now a florist, she lives a much simpler life.
Grant Santos was the gardener for Cass’s family when he fell in love with her. He dreamed of a future with her. Then suddenly she dumped him with no warning. Alaskan Mountain Search is a fast-paced, exciting story. A teenager is missing and a serial killer is on the loose. The teenager is police captain Bre Dayton’s niece and she is convinced that the only way to find her is to enlist the help of her ex, search and rescue worker Griffin Knight, and his K-9 companion, Ember, an Alaskan Husky.
This suspenseful story just flew by and I was on the edge of my seat for most of the book. The romance between Bre and Griffin was a slow burn and a sweet romance, and I enjoyed the way they learned to trust each other again, and become friends and then more. The star of this story, in my opinion, is Ember, the intelligent husky rescue dog! I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

The Writing
When Emmy read the best series of her childhood, Nancy Drew, she cheered for her favorite titian-haired detective to solve the mysteries that plagued River Heights while reading the books featuring Nancy's boyfriend Ned Nickerson over and over again. Fast forward a few years later to when Emmy found a copy of A Rose in Winter by Kathleen Woodiwiss, and she was hooked on romance. Thirteen years after she submitted her first novel, and received her first rejection, from Harlequin, Emmy got the call from editors Flo and Charlotte with Harlequin Presents.
The Home Life
When she's not writing, she's working her day job in public relations. At home, she wrangles her adventurous toddler, explores the countryside with her fur babies or enjoys a glass of wine on the front porch of her Midwestern home with her firefighter hubby.
The Reading
Emmy loves romance (of course). Nora Roberts, Julia Quinn, Sabrina Jeffries, Tessa Dare, Amanda Quick and Mary Jo Putney are just some of her favorites. She's also a die-hard mystery fan. Her two favorite authors are Agatha Christie and Ellery Queen, writers her father introduced her to and that she rereads at least once a year.
Sarah Varland lives with her husband, and two sons in Alaska, with a view of the mountains that astounds her every day. She loves reading, writing, hiking, dog mushing, skiing, and having outdoor adventures with her family. Her first book, Treasure Point Secrets, released in 2014 and is set in coastal Georgia. Her current releases are set in various small towns in Alaska, where the wilderness adds danger to her character's lives. Her next book, Alaskan Mountain Search, releases in January 2023.
I love the sound of this K-9 story. I haven’t read this one, but read many other Harlequin K-9 stories. I’m glad you enjoyed the romance story, although it sounds like it might be a bit steamy. I also like the sound of a reverse rags to riches story.
