“Morgan’s latest Christmas tale will delight readers and give them the perfect excuse to snuggle up for a few hours with a cup of hot cocoa.”—Booklist on The Christmas Escape

This Christmas, be whisked away by USA Today bestselling author Sarah Morgan in this uplifting novel of friendship, the festive season, and risking everything for the biggest gift of all...

It was supposed to be Christy Sullivan’s perfect Christmas getaway—a trip to Lapland with her family and best friend, Alix. But facing a make-or-break marriage crisis, Christy desperately needs time alone with her husband. Her solution? Alix can take Christy’s little daughter to Lapland, and they will reunite there for Christmas Day. It’s a big ask, but what else are friends for?

There’s nothing Alix won’t do for Christy. But Christy’s request to save Christmas is giving Alix sleepless nights. She knows something is wrong, but for the first time ever, Christy isn’t talking. And even the Arctic temperatures in Lapland aren’t enough to dampen the seriously inconvenient sizzle Alix is developing for Zac, a fellow guest and nemesis from her past.

As secrets unravel and unexpected romance shines under the northern lights, can Christy and Alix’s Christmas escape give them the courage to fight for the relationships they really want, and save the precious gift of each other’s friendship?

My Review:

The Christmas Escape by Sarah Morgan is a charming, holiday book set in Lapland with all the Christmas feeling you’d expect in a holiday book. I enjoyed this book and feel like it’s a delightful Christmas book.

Christy Sullivan has planned the perfect vacation for her family. Her husband, Seb, young daughter Holly and Christy’s best friend Alix. When Christy and Seb have marriage problems, Christy decides to stay in London with Seb and send Holly to Lapland with her best friend Alix, and Seb sends his best friend Zac to help Alix. However, Alix and Zac have some history, and they have not spoken to each other in years.

In Lapland is Robyn, Chirsty’s estranged Aunt, and her husband Erik who own and run a holiday spa. Robyn hasn’t seen Christy since she was three years old after she and Christy’s mother Elizabeth had a huge falling out.

This story is more than just a cute holiday book, as it examines the complicated relationships between Christy and her husband, Christy and her best friend Alix, and Christy and her estranged aunt Robyn. The romance between Alix and Zac is fun as they renew their old passion as they take care of the very energetic five-year-old Holly.

There are sled dogs, sleigh rides and the author’s descriptions of the scenery in Lapland are vivid, making me feel the icy beauty of Lapland. The relationships are complex between the main characters but are realistic views of marriage, friendship, and love. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
