Will a big-city veterinarian give this small town—and the single dad who’s caught her heart—a chance?
Veterinarian Harlow Jones knew returning to small-town life, even temporarily, would be a disaster. She just never guessed it would start that way—with her car skidding off the road outside Mistletoe, Maine. And while her rescuer is both charming and handsome, Harlow isn’t about to get involved with a local. She’s in town for one reason only—to pay off her vet school bills—and then she’s back to her real life in Seattle.Nick Keegan knows all about unexpected, life-altering detours. He lost his wife in the blink of an eye, and he’s spent the years since being the best single dad he can be. He’s also learned not to take anything for granted, so when sparks start to fly with Harlow, Nick is all in. He senses Harlow feels it too, but she insists romance isn’t on her agenda. He’ll have to pull out all the stops to show her that love is worth changing the best-laid plans.
Falling in Love on Sweetwater Lane by Belle Calhoune is the third book in the Mistletoe, Maine Series but can easily be read as a stand-alone. This sweet, heartwarming romance is sure to warm your heart.
Story Recap:
Veterinarian Harlow Jones moves to Mistletoe Maine to take a one-year position as a veterinarian at the PAWS vet clinic. She doesn’t like small towns because of some issues she had as a child, but in order to pay off her student loans, she knows she can handle one year in a small town. She’ll just grin and bear it.
Nick believes he might be ready to love again after the loss of his wife, and starts to feel something for the first time since his wife’s death for the lovely new veterinarian, Harlow. But, she’s determined to leave her year is up, can Nick and his son convince Harlow to stay?
My Thoughts:
I enjoyed this lovely small-town romance. It’s part of a series, and I didn’t read the first two books, but still fully enjoyed this third book in the series. I now need to read the first two books as I really loved the setting in Mistletoe, Maine.
Both Harlow and Nick don’t want to get into a relationship, but their chemistry is strong, and they have so much in common. I liked this slow-burn romance and liked that Nick and Harlow spent some time together before the romance set in. Nine-year-old Miles, Nick’s son was a nice addition to the story. I just can’t resist a good single-dad story. Overall this was a sweet, charming story with a satisfying romance.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend Falling in Love on Sweetwater Lane to anyone who enjoys romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I like these kinds of stories and that cover is gorgeous. I’ll read the book for that alone.
It’s nice that this is a standalone read!
Lately I’ve been reading some series that need to be read in their publication order. I like that sort of series, too, but I’ve had a few problems forgetting some stuff about minor characters who pop back up in book two or three. Hehe.
I love series, but I have trouble keeping up with them.
Sometimes I like slow-burn and sometimes I don’t. Good review, Wendy!
Thank you, Jolene!
I also enjoy single mom or dad stories and this sounds lovely. Great review!
Thank you, Yesha
I haven’t read anything by this author yet. This one seems like a cozy story. I enjoy small-town settings, so I’ll keep it in mind.
This was my first book by this author, but not my last.

I want to step into that cover! The story itself sounds equally lovely. 😀
Yes! That cover is so inviting.
This and the couple you mentioned yesterday share the single parent theme – that adds another layer of complexity and interest to a romance I think. thanks for sharing!
Yes, it does, Terrie! I like single parent romances.
