What I’ve been up to:

It’s been a very quiet week this week. My son just accepted a new job in Montana, specifically, “the middle of nowhere” Montana. It’s in a very remote part of the state, so I’m a bit worried that he’ll be lonely or bored. He claims that as long as he has good internet, he’ll be fine.

My son’s new job is what he’s been wanting to do. He’ll work as a soil scientist, and I’m very proud of him. It’s a job with the Federal Government, so it will be a month or so before he’ll have to move up there. And I’m sure my husband and I will have to haul a bunch of his stuff up there too.

Last week I read:

I read a LOT this week, I don’t normally read this much, but I didn’t have much else going on and I wanted to try to get ahead a bit. Once again, they were all excellent books. My favorite book was The Belle of Belgrave Square.

I also finally finished the Practical Magic series and I’ll be posting my review for the series later this month (spoiler alert: I loved them all!)

Next week I hope to get to:

  1. Congratulations to your soon on his new job! I hope it will be all he hopes it will be. All your recent reads sound so good! I have read a couple of the Practical Magic books and need to get to the rest. I adore Alice Hoffman’s writing. I hope you have a great week!

  2. Congrats to your son for finding a job in his field. Hopefully the remote location won’t be too hard to adjust to. You really did read a lot last week! Nice way to finish out the month. 🙂

  3. Congrats to your son! Finding a job, especially one you want to do, seems very tough these days. I hope he fares well in the remote location. I know I’d get bored, lonely, and depressed even with good Internet. I’m glad to know he’s not the same way. 😀

  4. Congrats to your son on the job! Hubby and I know all about the moving. We’ve moved one or both of our sons every summer for the past nine years (college, jobs, etc.) Hope he enjoys Montana.

    • Wow, that’s a lot of moving! I am excited for him. I don’t mind helping him move, I want to see where he’ll be living.

  5. That’s so great about your son’s job! It sounds perfect though if it’s just him on his own I’d be a bit worried about him getting bored too. Have a wonderful week and enjoy your reading!

  6. Montana is such a beautiful state, but I think it’s pretty cold in the winter which is just around the corner. Hope your son enjoys his new job. I got an invite to read Built to Last and you just reminded me to snatch it up.

Congrats to your son! Honestly I wish I lived in the middle of nowhere, I don’t like people, lol. But that’s awesome, it’s always great to get your dream job. Those look like great books, Dark Whisper has a stunning cover.

  8. That’s exciting about your son. Does he like the outdoors? That could be another aspect of Montana life maybe hiking, or skiing. I haven’t read any of those books. I’m glad you enjoyed them.

    • Yes, he’s very outdoorsy and loves to hike and camp. He’ll be about and hour and a half from Glacier National Park.

  9. A soil scientist? Now what exactly do they do? I guess agricultural reasons? Sounds like a story can come from that….

I bought The Book of Magic on Wednesday and can’t wait to start reading AND to see your review. I love love love that series and Alice Hoffman.

Have a wonderful week Wendy and I also need a week where I just read A LOT and catch up a bit.

  10. Congratulations to your son on getting his new job! I hope he enjoys it. I look forward to reading several of these books Wendy including Built to Last and The Christmas Spirit. Have a wonderful week ahead.

  11. Soil scientist is so cool, I am sure he will be fine there and will carve out a life for himself. And I can vouch that ask long as there is internet, most of us millennials are fine 😀
