What I’ve been up to:

Fall is here! At least it’s here in Northern Arizona. We’ve had cool rainy days, and the leaves in the trees are just starting to turn yellow and gold. I’m enjoying the cool breezes and having the windows open instead of air conditioning.

I had a quiet week, read a lot, and got some chores done around the house.

Last week I read:

As I said above, I got a lot of reading done this week. All were very good! My favorite was Mad Honey.

Next week I hope to get to:

What I Watched:

I’ve never been a fan of movie theaters, even before COVID. I prefer the comfort of my home when I watch movies. I like the control of being able to stop and pause the movie when I need a break, and my food at home is healthier and cheaper than theater food. So, I had to wait until Where The Crawdads Sing was streaming before I would watch it.

Like most movie adaptations, the book was much better but, I still enjoyed the movie very much. My daughter also read the book, and she enjoyed the film as well and agreed that the book was better.

  1. I’m so happy to have Fall here now! The leaves are changing here and even though we’re in the middle of a mini heat wave (high 80s) it’s still cool at night. We should be in the 70s next week with a chance of rain.

I’ll be downloading Station Eternity. I hope you liked it! I love Mimi Mathews so I’m looking forward to her newest as well.

  2. Sounds like you had a productive and relaxing week! Fall is beginning to show itself temperature wise for me, but it’s not fully fall just yet; I’m looking forward to though, because I’m ready to snuggle up in my hoodie all day.

I’m also not a fan of movie theaters and prefer the comfort of my home for all the reasons you listed! Plus too many people for my taste (especially so with COVID).

  3. Yay for a quiet week with lots of reading! I’ve never been much of a movie theater fan either and much prefer watching movies at home. Have a wonderful week!

  4. I’m glad you had a great week! Reading, fall weather, a fun movie, what else is there? LOL.

Even though I haven’t finished the book yet, Corey and I did watch Crawdads last night. I’ve had a hard time getting back into the book and I was hoping the movie would entice me. It did what I hoped. I’m excited to read the book again. I really loved the movie, so I’m glad to hear that the book is more awesome. 😀

  5. Color me jealous of your cool, rainy weather! It’s 92 here today. *sobs* Looks like some fun holiday reads happened last week. I agree that books are almost always better, but it’s nice to hear that Where the Crawdads Sing move was a good adaptation.

  6. I’ve heard fans of Where the Crawdad Sings haven’t been thrilled with the movie. I read it for book club, but it wasn’t for me, although I did enjoy the legal part of it. Have a great week, Wendy!

  7. I wondered how Where the Crawdad Sing is? Sounds like it’s not too bad. Glad you had a nice quiet week full,of wonderful reads!

  8. That looks like a nice pile of fun books! I recently saw Where the Crawdads Sing too and quite enjoyed it. Sadly, I didn’t manage to get the book read first. Hopefully I’ll still do that!

  9. Fall feels like it’s here too with the cooler temps. Although thr leaves haven’t really started to turn yet. It’ll happen quiclky when it does though.

I’m looking forward to Station Eternity- I really liked her Six Wakes. 🙂

  10. Fall is definitely in the air here in Southern Ontario as well. We dropped 20 degrees in one day. I also want to watch Where the Crawdads Sing. I have heard good things about the movie, so need to start watching for it on streaming networks. I love seeing all the Christmas books everyone is starting to read. Have a wonderful week, Wendy.

  11. I prefer watching movies at home, too. It’s nice to be able to pause it when needed and have whatever sort of snacks or other types of food you want.

I didn’t know there’s a film version of Where the Crawdads Sing. Interesting!

Enjoy those beautiful autumn leaves. Less than 5% of the leaves here in Toronto have begun to change. We’re still quite green.

  12. Wow, you had a great reading week! That’s wonderful! I miss the days when I got that much reading done…maybe once winter sets in I will have more time 🙂

  13. I’m the same with movies. I didn’t even know Where the Crawdads Sing was made into a movie, so I’ll have to check it out. Looks like Christmas reading season has begun! Here’s my SPhttps://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2022/09/25/sundaypost-precious-memories/

  14. I need to watch Where the Crawdads Sing – I’m not sure if it’s available here yet. I enjoyed Holiday Romance and I have Before I Do preordered from Audible. I hope that you enjoy all these books Wendy and have a lovely week ahead.

That is a lot of reading this week 😊 I can feel Autumn here in the UK now & I like it, some warmth with the sun but a bit cooler 😊 Have a great week 💕
