sunday post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted at the @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See the rules here: Sunday Post Meme

What I’ve been up to:

It’s my Birthday today, and we’re staying home to celebrate. We’ll go out to dinner during the week when it’s less crowded. I won’t say my age, but I just became eligible for Social Security benefits, so a few extra $$ a month is a great birthday present for me!

We went camping during the week again. I’ve been working on my campfire cooking! We always take a propane grill with us, and the camper has a stove in it. But, I’ve started experimenting with using a dutch over the campfire coals, and so far, it’s been great. I made chicken and dumplings, chili and cornbread, and peach dump cake. All were delicious!

Last week I read:

When I camp, I don’t read as much as when I’m at home. These were all very good, with the best going to Anxious People! I didn’t realize this, but Adult Assembly Required is a sequel to The Bookish Life of Nina Hill. It can easily be read as a stand-alone, but it was fun to catch up with Nina and see what she’s up to now!

Next week I hope to get to:

Wednesday: Can’t Wait Wednesday
Thursday: Book Review: Starry-Eyed Love by Helena Hunting

  1. Happy birthday! I hope you enjoyed your celebration week! 🎉🎉🎉 I think we are the same age. 😊

Reading a Backman is on the top of my reading musts for next year. I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without reading one. 😯

While in college, when I went camping with my friends, I learned to campfire cook. It’s great fun. Thanks for sharing your photos. Do you think you will continue to cook that way in camp, from now on? 🏕

    I hope you’ve been having a great week. 🌞

  2. I hope you had a fantastic birthday! We have to do some Dutch oven cooking in a few weeks for a picnic for the father in law’s bday. This chili cornbread thing looks easy! I might have to try that!

  3. Happy birthday! I hope you had a wonderful day. I have The Bookish Life of Nina Hill on my TBR and have a copy from Audible. I’m glad to know that there’s a sequel so that I can revisit the characters! Have a wonderful week!

  4. Sounds like a fun birthday. Belated best wishes, Wendy! Dutch oven cooking while camping is fun. My sister in law found several good recipes on Pinterest for us to try.

I’m hoping to read the Emma Project and I’ve got Adult Assembly Required for soon.

    Have a good week, Wendy!

  5. Pam @ Read! Bake! Create!

Happy belated birthday! Yesterday was my oldest daughter’s birthday, and we had a quiet dinner at home with the family and her girlfriend.

Your pictures from your time camping make it look like such fun. Sadly, that is never our experience when we go. But that never stops us from trying.

  6. Happy Birthday to you! Yes, I’m eager for my SS benefits as well – a year and a half more. It sounds like you are quite the accomplished chef! Wow! The photos looks fabulous – especially the one showing your campfire and camper. How peaceful.
I loved Anxious People! I’ve been slowly backreading Fredrick Backman, which is a rare occurrence for me. His writing is wonderfully authentic!
    Happy reading this week!

    • Thank you, Patricia! I’m not much of a chef, but I do enjoy finding new things to eat. I will have to go back and read Fredrick Backman’s backlist too. Anxious People was amazing.

  7. Happy, happy birthday, Wendy! 😀 I hope you’ve had a wonderful day celebrating! 😀 Sorry I’m a little late to the party.

  8. Happy birthday! I didn’t know you could get social security at 21. 🙂

I read Buried in a Good Book last week, and I enjoyed it. Hope you do, too.

  9. Happy Birthday Wendy! Anxious People was one of my favourites of 2020 and you know how much I loved Book Lovers so I hope that you enjoy it too! I hope you have a wonderful birthday week!

  10. Happy Birthday Wendy🎈🎈🎂🎂🎈🎈 Your camping trip looks great fun and I must say, I love the sound of peach dump cake. Glad you enjoyed your reads last week. Wishing you a great week of reading ahead

  11. Happy Birthday, Wendy! Your outdoor adventures look fun. We do some Dutch Oven cooking too; your dishes look like they turned out well!

    • It’s because we’re so busy, making food, hiking, and sightseeing. At home, I am less busy as I’m retired.

  12. Janette

Happy Birthday. I hope you are having a lovely day. The camp cooking photos are brilliant.
I already have Adult Assembly required on my TBR but knowing it’s a sequel makes me want to read it even more.
