What I’m Up To:
I had a nice quiet week again, we did a lot of walking and hiking. We’ve also got a lot of rain, which is good for the forests, but, it’s caused a lot of flooding and mudslides on the other side of town, so it’s good, and not so good at the same time.
Today I’m headed up to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon to do some tent camping and hiking with my husband and my brother. The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is where most of the tourists go, and is very busy this time of year, and quite warm too! The North Rim is more isolated so it gets fewer visitors and it’s at a much higher elevation so it’s nice and cool during the summer. The North Rim is only open from May 15 to October 15 and is closed all winter. I try to visit up there a couple of times during the summer. It’s a 4-hour drive from my house, so it’s best to spend at least one night there. We’ll be spending 3 nights tent camping at the Park Campground.

Your trip to the North Rim sounds lovely! I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, and I wasn’t aware of the north/south difference. Have a wonderful time!
Thank you Diana, The North Rim is a bit of a secret, and that’s why it’s so nice as there are so many fewer tourists and visitors. If you’re ever out this way, you should check it out.
