What I’m up to:
We have a conehead! Our newest dog, Balto, had a neutering operation and now has to wear the “Cone of Shame”. I’m surprised at how fast he is recovering from the operation and is now running around outside with our other dogs, and just as happy, active and loving as he was before.
He is still very thin, and although we are feeding him well, he lost 3 pounds since he came to live with us. I think he might be losing weight because of all the fresh air and exercise he gets here in our large yard, playing with our two other dogs. Previously he lived in a very small apartment and was kept in a crate most of the day. We’ll keep monitoring his weight and keep him healthy. We feed them a combination of quality commercial dog food and homemade dog food.
We’ve had some warmer weather this week, and it’s been nice to get out and get some walking in.
Last week I read:
I had a good week of reading! Meet Me in the Margins was my FAVORITE, but they were all good.

Poor Balto. I remember when Bigg had to wear the cone of shame. So glad he is doing well and I hope he starts putting weight on soon. I really want to read the Tessa Bailey book but am still pending for it. I enjoyed the first in the series, even though I had to skim the open door scenes. Enjoy, Wendy.
Hook Line and Sinker had some open door scenes, but not many, and the story was great.
I hope Balto gains a bit more weight!
I hope so too! I’ve had dogs all my life, and never had a skinny one! So I doubt he’ll be skinny long.
I bet poor Balto can’t wait to get rid of the cone of shame! 😀
Thank you Nikki, he’s handling the cone better than I would!
Poor Balto! I think the cone is worse than the procedure for them. So glad he bounced back so quickly! I hope you enjoy Murder on the Menu. I think it’s a fun cozy series. Have a great week!
Thank you Tessa!
Balto is so beautiful! Don’t worry, guy, the cone is temporary. I am glad he is doing well. I am sure you are right and the fresh air and more exercise is contributing to the wight loss. I am glad you had such a great reading week. I’m really curious about Carolina Built. I hope this week will bring good reading your way too.
Thank you, He’s a very sweet dog too.
I’m glad to hear Balto is doing well, getting more running and playing with other dogs. I’ve made homemade food for a year and I’m glad I have.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
He’s a happy dog! Homemade dog food is so good for them, and they love it
Aw good luck to Balto and hopefully he’s out of the Cone soon. 🙂
Thank you Greg.
I hope Balto recovers soon. What a cute pup!
I love the occasional cozy mystery, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on Murder on the Menu.
Thank you Lydia!
How sad that Balto was in a crate for much of the day before! I’m so happy you rescued him!
I’m excited for Hook, Line & Sinker! Hope you enjoy it, Wendy.
Yes, it was such a sad situation for him. I just started Hook Line and Sinker and I’m HOOKED. 🙂
Balto sure is a cutie, even in his cone of shame. 😀
Thank you Lark, he’s a sweet dog.
Poor Balto! Glad to hear he’s recovering well and hope he puts on the lost weight soon. He looks a sweet fellow.
The Bright Side Running Club is the one from your list that I’d love to pick up most, though the others too look good.
I just finished The Bright Side Running club and I really enjoyed it. Happy Reading
Poor Balto. Hope he doesn’t mind the cone too much. Enjoy your reading this week. I’m definitely intrigued by Meet me in the Margins as a title
He’s handling the cone much better than I would! I can’t wait until we can take it off. Meet me in the Margins was super cute.
Balto! Reminds me of the animated movie I watched as a kid. Hope he is completely recovered soon. Sounds like you are taking good care of him! 🙂
My daughter named him after the movie, she loved it when she was little.
Hope he recovers well 💕 A great reading week for you 😊
Thank you Jenny!
I am glad Meet Me in the Margins was your favorite since I will be reading it soonish 🙂 Have a great day!
I hope you enjoy it Cindy! I thought it was super cute.
I have Meet Me In the Margins on my TBR.
As for Balto, he is such a good boy! Hopefully, his weight will stabilize soon. You’re probably right that he’s losing weight because of all the space to run that he has.
Thank you Pam. I hope you enjoy Meet Me in the Margins as much as I did.
Oh no the cone of shame! Poor Balto! But it’s good he’s recovering well. ♥
Thank you Stephanie, he is handling it all so well.
