What I’m Up To:
We backpacked inside the Grand Canyon last week. We hiked down the Bright Angel Trail to the campground that is halfway down to the river, named Indian Gardens. We only camped one night, and then hiked back up the five miles to the rim. We were supposed to hike down to the bottom of the canyon, but my husband broke a toe and decided he better not hike down any further. We still had a lovely time camping below the rim, inside the canyon. The hike was tough, but the weather was beautiful, and it’s always fun to meet new people and talk to the rangers and just enjoy the beauty of the canyon.
Last week I read:

Thank you Lydia, if you ever decide to go the Grand Canyon, be sure to let me know. I know the park fairly well.
Looks like you had a wonderful trip to the Grand Canyon. I love that there is a book exchange box. Have a great week, Wendy.
Thank you Carla! We did have a lovely time.
Great photos! It looks like such a beautiful place. 😍 I hope your husband is doing better!
Thank you! He’s much better!
The grand canyon hike looks beautiful! I love watching baking shows, but only during the holiday season. I gotta figure out a way to get Food Network!
Thank you Amber! I agree, it’s tough to watch baking shows all year round.
The views from you backpacking trip look beautiful! Too bad about your husband’s toe! Ouch! Hope it heals fast. I don’t bake very often anymore either, but yeah, it’s fun to watch!
Thank you Rachel, he’s feeling much better already.
Those photos are stunning. Especially the first one – the colors just pop right off of the page. Hope your husband’s toe is doing okay. Those little breaks can really cause annoying pain. Have a wonderful week, Wendy!
Thank you Tessa, I go there fairly often, and I”m always stunned by the beauty of the canyon.
Wow that first pic reminds me of a Louis L’amour cover or a really panoramic Western. Sounds like an awesome hike although sorry to hear about your husband’s broken toe. Hopefully that didn’t make the trek back up too hard. Anyway- hope you have a nice week. 🙂
Thank you Greg, I hope you have a nice week too!
I LOVE your photos! Sorry you ended up with a shorter trip.

Ouch, I hope your husband is feeling better! Your photos are beautiful. I’m glad you had fun. I went to the Grand Canyon as a kid, but I don’t remember it very well. I’d like to go back.
Those pictures of the trail and canyon are beautiful! I hope that your hubby’s toe is feeling better.
I love watching all of the baking shows so much my kids keep asking me when I’m going to sign up to be on one. I love baking, don’t get me wrong, but I am nowhere near their caliber of skill.
Thank you Pam. I’d love to see you on a baking show!
Exciting to be hiking in the Grand Canyon. It’s on my bucket list of places to visit sometime but whether I will ever get there remains to be seen.
Let me know if you ever decide to go to the Grand Canyon! I know that park pretty well.
