Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

Edelweiss:

Publication Date: September 20, 2022

This is the third installment in her Grilled Cheese Mystery series. I’ve been enjoying the series very much as well as the grilled cheese cravings!

Synopsis: A bridal shower gone bad quickly becomes the swiss of death, and grilled cheese shop owner Carly Hale must sniff out the suspect.

Winter in Balsam Dell is a snowy affair, and to add in some cheer after the holidays, Carly’s former classmate Klarissa Taddeo is hosting her extravagant bridal shower at the historic Balsam Dell inn. That is, until a double-booking throws some mold in the cheese and leaves Klarissa scrambling. With the venue moved to the maid of honor’s family mansion and Carly rinding to create a new delicious treat, it seems the group is going to pull off the shower without a hitch. That is, until a rowdy band of groomsmen crashes the event.

Klarissa is furious with her groom-to-be and when a loud argument ensues, everyone is shocked by what they hear. When the groom is later found dead at the bottom of the stairs, his drink spiked with a hefty dose of poison, Carly must put her nose to the rind and save Klarissa from being suspect #1.

Because you know what they say: it’s always the (almost) wife.

One More Chapter invited me to a readathon for Ten Years by Pernille Hughes. It’s at the end of the month and I’ll be posting my progress.

Synopsis: Becca and Charlie have known each other since university.
Becca and Charlies have also hated each other since university.

Until now. Until Ally’s bucket list. The death of their loved one should mean they can go their separate ways and not look back. But completing the list is something neither of them can walk away from.

And sometimes, those who bring out the worst in you, also bring out the very best….

Over the course of ten years, Becca and Charlie’s paths collide as they deal with grief, love and life after Ally.

Not since Emma and Dex in One Day and Will and Lou in Me Before You will you root for a couple as much.

I read the previous book in this series and enjoyed it, so I’m excited to continue the series.

Synopsis: A woman expecting to spend the holidays alone finds warmth in the iciest man she knows in this steamy and charming later-in-life romance by New York Times bestselling author Jane Porter.

It’s been five years since Andi McDermott lost her husband, and she’s finally starting to feel like herself again, ready to live fully—she’s even started dating again. But when her holiday plans with her stepson and his fiancée fall through, she refuses to spend another Christmas alone while everyone is celebrating with their families. Impulsively, she decides to go up to her cabin in Lake Arrowhead, a place she used to love to visit but hadn’t gone to in years, not since the feud started between her husband and their nearest neighbor.

Andi starts to rethink her decision when being alone at the cabin proves to be more challenging than she expected—a heavy snowstorm hits the area, and Andi finds herself trapped there with no one to help except for her neighbor, Wolf Enders. A military vet who lives full-time on Lake Arrowhead, Wolf is as grumpy and intimidating as Andi remembers. But he’s also unexpectedly kind and uncomfortably sexy—his presence reminds Andi that she may be older, but her body still works perfectly fine, thank you very much. But can this good girl tame this sexy beast of a man, and will this snowy fling turn into a love of a lifetime?

A historical novel about art forgeries sounds like fun!

Synopsis: Sparks fly between a lordly art critic and a lady forger in this enthralling Victorian historical romance from the author of The Runaway Duchess.

Nina Finch isn’t suited for a life of crime. Raised by her art-forger brother, she can paint like Boticelli. But she’d so much rather be baking gooseberry tarts. She finally has the money she needs to open her own bakery. Unfortunately, her brother’s carelessness lands her—and their forgeries—directly under the nose of London’s most discerning art critic, Alan De’Ath. De’Ath knows the paintings are fake. He doesn’t know that Nina had a hand in their creation. In fact, he offers her a job in his household. Accepting it is the most dangerous thing she has ever done….

Alan takes pride in seeing things other people miss. He plans to catch the forger and cement his reputation. There’s only one problem: the closer he gets to the beguiling woman he hired, the less he trusts his perspective. Nina isn’t what she seems. But despite their false start, she just might hold the real key to his heart.

As Nina and Alan’s attraction grows, divided loyalties threaten to pull them apart and shatter their worlds. They’ll lose everything, or discover how powerful true love can be….

That’s all I have for this week. Have you read any of these books? What’s on your list to read? Comment below!

  1. I didn’t realize Cheddar Late Than Dead is being released so soon. I recently finished the second one in the series, No Parm No Foul, and I LOVED it! It’s a great series. Have a great week! 🙂

    • It is a fun series! It just came up on Edelweiss and it’s now on NetGalley too. I hope you get a chance to read it soon.

  2. I’m going to do that reading thing with One More Chapter and Ten Years also. It sounds fun. Hope we both enjoy it!

  3. Great additions this week, Wendy. I have seen some reviews on that Jane Porter series, and it sounds good. I hope you enjoy this one as much as the first in the series.

  4. I meant to read Flirty With 50 but couldn’t squeeze it in. I’ll see if they have the audio at the library. Hope you enjoy the second book too!

  5. I never really use Edelweiss much because I find the website so hard to figure out. Cheddar Late Than Dead looks really fun, though.

    • I rarely get accepted for any books at Edelweiss, but I try anyway. They seem to be good for cozy mysteries. I like that I can state my case and tell them why I want an ARC. I also use their cover images the most as they are usually high definition and very clear.

  6. Great set of picks again Wendy. I love the look of the Grilled Cheese book, and more so since it has a dog on the cover.

  7. Your Stacking the Shelves post is always a bit dangerous for me as I always see things I’d like to read and there are only so many books I can read! Flirting with the Beast is particularly appealing to me since the characters are “later in life”. I hope that you enjoy these books and I look forward to reading your reviews.

    • Thank you, Jodie. Stacking the Shelves day is so dangerous to my TBR, I always find books on your blog that I want as well.

Another great week for books, I’m looking forward to reading Ten Years very soon 😊
