Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Reading Reality all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

NetGalley:

All my books came from NetGalley this week. I’m challenging myself to get out to a bookstore and get some paper books, so by next Saturday, I should have at least one paper book for next week’s post. For those that don’t know NetGalley is a site where you can request Advance Reader Copies (ARC) of books that are not published yet. In return for the ARC, you provide an honest review of the book in order to stir up buzz for an upcoming release.

In just one day is a rather impulse request from NetGalley. The cover is beautiful (I’m a sucker for a cute cover). Then I read the blurb, and saw parts of the book is set in Venice, and I was hooked. I hope it as good as the cover!

Synopsis: Flora has always adored her brother Billy. Born just eighteen months apart, their childhood was spent like two peas in a pod – no one could separate them. Now, as adults, they remain the best of friends. And as Flora is immersed in family life, Billy is always there to lend a hand.
But, in just one day, everything changes.
In just one day, Flora’s life falls apart.
In just one day, Flora has to learn how to live again.
From the nostalgia of seaside Britain to the breath-taking beauty of Venice, in tears and laughter, join Helen McGinn for this emotional, uplifting and joyful story about love in all its guises. But above all, this is an unforgettable story of one little girl and the brother she adores.
Helen McGinn has written a novel to recommend to all your friends, perfect for fans of Elizabeth Noble, Cathy Kelly and JoJo Moyes.

Beneath a Starlit Sky was another book from NetGalley. Beautiful cover again. I chose to request this one as it looked compelling. I like to read historical fiction once in a while, and lately, I’ve been really interested in the WWII era of historical fiction. I also saw some especially great reviews for this book.

Synopsis: Munich 1930: Smoke filled the air.
Lilli Sternberg’s quickening heart sounded an alarm as she rounded the street corner. Lifting her gaze to the rooftops, a roaring blaze of thick flames engulfed the side of the building and joined the stars to fill the black sky. Her father’s shop was no more.
Lilli Sternberg longs to be a ballet dancer. But outside the sanctuary of the theatre, her beloved city is in chaos and Munich is no longer a place for dreams.
The Nazi party are gaining power and the threats to those who deviate from the party line are increasing. Jewish families are being targeted and their businesses raided, even her father’s shop was torched because of their faith.
When Lilli meets Captain Marco Zeiller during a chance encounter, her heart soars. He is the perfect gentleman and her love for him feels like a bright hope under a bleak sky.
But battle lines are being drawn, and Marco has been spotted by the Reich as an officer with potential. A relationship with Lilli would compromise them both.
Will Lilli escape the threats facing her family, and how much is she willing to risk for the man she loves?
An absolutely gripping and emotional historical fiction novel about love, courage and betrayal for fans of My Name is Eva and A Woman of War

I requested First Love Take Two because I heard so much about Sajni Patel’s previous book The Trouble with Hating You. And the synopsis looks like the kind of book I enjoy. I love a brainy heroine.

Synopsis: On the verge of realizing her dream of being a doctor, Preeti Patel should be ecstatic. But between the stress of her residency, trying to find a job, and managing her traditional, no-boundaries family, Preeti’s anxiety is through the roof. Relationships and love aren’t even an option. Fortunately, Preeti’s finally found a new place to stay . . . only to discover that her new roommate is her ex.
Preeti never quite got over Daniel Thompson. Super-hot, plenty of swagger, amazing cook—the guy is practically perfect. And if it weren’t for their families, there might have been a happily ever after. But it’s hard to keep her sanity and libido in check when the man of her dreams is sleeping mere feet away. Can Preeti and Daniel find a way to stand up and fight for each other one last time . . . before they lose their second chance?

I requested Dinner on Primrose Hill by Jodi Thomas because…. Again, the beautiful cover! Also, Jodi Thomas is a fairly prolific writer of romance and I’ve never read any of her books, so I thought it was time to give her a try. And I enjoy a good romance once in a while. So, I’ll let you know what I think!

Synopsis: New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas welcomes readers back to the picturesque Texas valley that cradles the town of Honey Creek—a place where friendship and warm welcomes can be relied on, and love always finds a way . . .
Benjamin Monroe is pretty sure how his life will play out. He’ll continue teaching chemistry in his small college, and spend his free time biking through the valley. Eventually, he’ll retire to putter around in his garden and greenhouse.
His colleague, Virginia Clark, is not one for routines. She’s chatty, spontaneous, and bubbly, and before Benjamin realizes what happened, she’s talked him into collaborating on a research project—studying the mating habits of college students. Virginia knows her desire to work with Benjamin is motivated by more than the potential prize money . . . and hopes he might not be quite as indifferent as he seems to be.
Ketch Kincaid, one of Benjamin’s star students, returned to college after serving in the army. He needs something to get his mind off his recent breakup and collecting research data might do it. And there’s another distraction on the horizon—a woman who looks like she, too, knows about heartache.
Soon enough, their project, “The Chemistry of Mating,” is gaining notoriety. Friends, neighbors . . . the whole town has become involved. But no matter what the data determines, one conclusion seems inescapable: love follows its own rules . . .

I also got this one from NegGalley. It’s just the light reading I enjoy most.

Synopsis: For once, things are going well for thirty-year-old Kerra Shaw. She has a fulfilling job helping small businesses in the local community, she is within a few minutes’ walk of all the people she loves best, and most importantly, she has finally got together with her childhood sweetheart, Ross.
It’s not all plain sailing, though, because they have to keep their relationship a secret. The feud between their families still rages on, and Kerra doesn’t want to pour fuel on its flame and risk losing everything.
But Kerra should know better than anyone that secrets don’t stay hidden for long in a community like Penvennan Cove…
An uplifting and feel-good romance novel for fans of Lucy Coleman, Jessica Redland and Lisa Hobman.

That’s all I have for this week. Have you read any of these books? What’s on your list to read? Comment below!
