Can’t Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we’re excited about that we have yet to read. Generally, they’re books that have yet to be released. It’s based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Synopsis:
Sometimes to truly know a person, you have to read between the lines.
Isabelle is completely lost. When she first began her career in publishing after college, she did not expect to be twenty-five, still living at home, and one of the few Black employees at her publishing house. Overworked and underpaid, constantly torn between speaking up or stifling herself, Izzy thinks there must be more to this publishing life. So when she overhears her boss complaining about a beastly high-profile author who has failed to deliver his long-awaited manuscript, Isabelle sees an opportunity to finally get the promotion she deserves.
All she has to do is go to the author’s Santa Barbara mansion and give him a pep talk or three. How hard could it be?
But Izzy quickly finds out she is in over her head. Beau Towers is not some celebrity lightweight writing a tell-all memoir. He is jaded and withdrawn and—it turns out—just as lost as Izzy. But despite his standoffishness, Izzy needs Beau to deliver, and with her encouragement, his story begins to spill onto the page. They soon discover they have more in common than either of them expected, and as their deadline nears, Izzy and Beau begin to realize there may be something there that wasn’t there before.
Why I Can’t Wait!
I’ve enjoyed previous books by Jasmine Guillory and this is a bookish book too!
What book or books are you anxiously waiting for? Comment below!
This sounds like a fun read! I look forward to seeing what you think of it.
This sounds like a good read for sure. If you review it here, I’ll be interested to see what you thought of it. 🙂
I love the cover. This seems to be a popular cover art style at the moment, and I really like it. 📚
Thank you, I like it too!
I see her name all over blogs but never tried her. I like that this one incorporates books and writing too. Cute cover, cute premise. Enjoy!
Thank you, Mia!
Hope you enjoy if you get the chance to read 💕
Thank you, Jenny!
I’m very intrigued by these Disney books!
The last Disney book I read, If the Shoe Fits, was very good.
I’ve heard good things about her books though yet to read one. The setting in the bookish/publishing world is very appealing. Hope you enjoy it Wendy🙂
Thank you, Mallika!
Should be fun!
I agree, Linda!
I love mashups! I haven’t really done the memes but I’m thinking of starting. Do you think the memes are rewarding for your blog?
Yes! As soon as I started doing some memes, my traffic jumped up. Plus, I really enjoy them, and love to see what others do. Can’t Wait Wednesday is an easy meme IMO. there always seems to be plenty of books that I’m anxiously waiting for. Top Ten Tuesday is much harder to prepare for, but it’s much more fun and generates more traffic. I love the Sunday Post as well, as I feel like I get to know other bloggers through their updates. And Stacking the Shelves is a lot of fun because I find out what others are reading and I discover so many great books that way.
Great choice Wendy! I’m looking forward to this one too!
I hope we both love it!
I’m with Tessa – I love that the setting is in the publishing world. Makes me want to read it even more!
Thank you, Teri! I’m so looking forward to this.
I love that cover and title! I hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to read it 🙂
