A TV meteorologist and a sports reporter scheme to reunite their divorced bosses with unforecasted results in this electrifying romance from the author of The Ex Talk.

Ari Abrams has always been fascinated by the weather, and she loves almost everything about her job as a TV meteorologist. Her boss, legendary Seattle weatherwoman Torrance Hale, is too distracted by her tempestuous relationship with her ex-husband, the station's news director, to give Ari the mentorship she wants. Ari, who runs on sunshine and optimism, is at her wits' end. The only person who seems to understand how she feels is sweet but reserved sports reporter Russell Barringer.

In the aftermath of a disastrous holiday party, Ari and Russell decide to team up to solve their bosses' relationship issues. Between secret gifts and double dates, they start nudging their bosses back together. But their well-meaning meddling backfires when the real chemistry builds between Ari and Russell.

Working closely with Russell means allowing him to get to know parts of herself that Ari keeps hidden from everyone. Will he be able to embrace her dark clouds as well as her clear skies?

My Review:

Weather Gil by Rachel Lynn Solomon is a fun and flirty story about a meteorologist at a local news station in Seattle, Washington, that I enjoyed from cover to cover.  This book made me smile, and made me want to be a meteorologist!

Ari Abrams is a meteorologist at a local Seattle news station and is following in the footsteps of her idol, meteorologist Torrance Hale, the head meteorologist at the station.  She loves her job, but wishes her boss, Torrance would mentor her and help her become a better meteorologist.  Torrance’s ex-husband, Seth Hale, is the station manager and to say their divorce was explosive is an understatement.  Torrance and Seth spend much of their time at work fighting, bickering and complaining about each other.

At the station Christmas Party after a very eventful evening where Torrance and Seth had a huge fight, Ari teams up with sportscaster Russel, and after a few drinks they make a pact to set up their bosses in order to make a more peaceful station.  Believing that Torrance and Seth still love each other, Ari and Russel work together and find ways to set them up.  But, working together they find that it’s not just Torrance and Seth that have sparks between them.

This book is just so much fun.  And yet it was emotional too.  Russell was great, I loved that he is a bit heavy and is self-conscious about his appearance.  And Ari is just delightful, her love of the weather is infectious, now I want to be a meteorologist too!  The elements of mental health were handled compassionately and realistically by the author.
