A second chance at love awaits two brokenhearted people if they’re just willing to trust each other—and themselves, in USA Today bestselling author Nancy Naigle's The Wedding Ranch.
When Lorri Walker’s husband gifted her with a mastiff puppy on Valentine’s Day, she believed he was recommitting himself to their marriage after going astray. Six months later, he left both her and their dog for someone else. Since her recent move to Dalton Mill to unbraid herself from the past, Lorri’s graphic design business is now flourishing, her growing mastiff, Mister, has plenty of space to romp, and her ex in Raleigh can fade to a distant memory.
Ryder Bolt is haunted by the tragic loss of his wife and young son seven years ago. Thankfully, ranching keeps Ryder busy, and spending time with his niece and nephew—whose venue, The Wedding Ranch, has become a popular tourist destination—keeps him from getting lonely.
When Lorri and Ryder met, love was the last thing they were looking for. When they’re together, smiles come easier and burdens feel lighter, and both are embracing the possibility of something deeper.
But when a long-buried revelation surfaces, the fate that brought them together threatens to tear them apart.
The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle is a wholesome romance set in a small town featuring a large Mastiff dog!
Story Recap:
Lorri Walker thought her husband was trying to save her marriage when he gave her a Mastiff puppy for Valentine’s day. Six months later, he left her, and the dog for good. Lorri decides to move out of Raliegh and move to the rural suburb of Dalton Mills and finds a home with a big yard for her dog, Mister.
Ryder Bolt has lived in Dalton Mills his entire life, and he’s not happy about the housing development that was built on land that should have been his. Still grieving after the death of his wife and young son, seven years ago, Ryder tries to keep busy with his ranch and helping his twin niece and nephew with their wedding event business at The Wedding Ranch.
Neither Ryder nor Lorri want a relationship, but as they spend more time together, their friendship becomes more. But, can their past show up and change their future?
My Thoughts:
I love a good small town romance, and The Wedding Ranch was all that and more! I love a romance when both characters don’t want a relationship but just can’t help themselves as the attraction is so strong, and The Wedding Ranch is a perfect example.
I liked that Lorri wanted to move out of the city and live in a rural suburb, especially as she has such a big dog. She definitely enjoys the small town vibe and makes the most of moving to a small town.
I loved this heartwarming sweet romance. The characters were well developed and I liked them both very much. It was clear they were meant to be together from the start. But, they each had a considerable amount of baggage and I loved seeing how they each were able to unload it.
Recommendation:
I highly recommend The Wedding Ranch to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Have you read The Wedding Ranch?
Great review, Wendy. I also enjoy a book when friendship develops into something more and reluctant people fall in love. Of course wanting to move somewhere so her dog has more room to run grabs my heart. I think I have this one as well, so off to move it up the mountain.
I might enjoy this. It sounds enjoyable small town romance and dog in the story always makes it better. Great review!
I do love a romance when they can’t help but fall in love, feels even more emotional, great review 😊
I can’t resist a book with a big dog and a book with a big dog with a main character starting over is too much for me to resist. Great review!
Well that’s an interesting departure gift on a marriage. But, sounds like she and the dog move on to their happy.
Ryder sounds like a much better match for Lorri than her husband was. I like romances where the characters aren’t looking for love too. This sounds good!
Yes, Ryder was a much better match. Thanks, Wendy
This sounds like one I would enjoy. Thanks for putting it on my radar.
Thank you, Nadene!
Give someone a large dog and then leave them? Even if she loves dogs, that is pretty passive aggressive. I’m sure things work out for a happily ever after, but it would be fun to read their journey.
Yes! Her ex wasn’t a nice guy for sure. But, at least the dog gets a bigger yard and ends up happy
This sounds like such a sweet story, I especially love the small town vibes! Great review Wendy!
Thank you!
I can’t wait to read this one too Wendy! Awesome review!!🤗📚🎄💜
Thank you, Susan. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it too
