A troubled young mother yearns for a shot at redemption in this heartbreaking yet hopeful story from #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover.
After serving five years in prison for a tragic mistake, Kenna Rowan returns to the town where it all went wrong, hoping to reunite with her four-year-old daughter. But the bridges Kenna burned are proving impossible to rebuild. Everyone in her daughter's life is determined to shut Kenna out, no matter how hard she works to prove herself.
The only person who hasn't closed the door on her completely is Ledger Ward, a local bar owner and one of the few remaining links to Kenna's daughter. But if anyone were to discover how Ledger is slowly becoming an important part of Kenna's life, both would risk losing the trust of everyone important to them.
The two form a connection despite the pressure surrounding them, but as their romance grows, so does the risk. Kenna must find a way to absolve the mistakes of her past in order to build a future out of hope and healing.
My Review:
Wow. I was both anxiously anticipating this book and dreading reading it at the same time. I was dreading it, just a bit, because I knew it would be emotional for many reasons. 1. Colleen Hoover’s past books have been very emotional. 2. The reviews I read said it was very emotional and a “tear-jerker” 3. I read the blurb and knew it was probably going to make me sob (it did). Although it was a very emotional book, it was also very inspirational and the balance between sad, and inspirational was perfect.
Kenna Rowan was recently released from prison after serving five years of a seven-year sentence for a tragic mistake she made as a teenager. While in prison, she gave birth to a daughter who, due to her premature birth, she never got to meet or hold in her arms before she was whisked away. She returns to the town where the tragedy happened, and everyone remembers her as the girl who took the life of one of their citizens. Kenna is determined to find her daughter, but everyone in town is protecting her daughter and nobody is willing to give her a break.
Ledger Ward is a local bar owner who is helping to raise Kenna’s daughter. When he starts to have feelings for Kenna, he must choose between the little girl he loves like his own or the woman who is slowly capturing his heart.
In Reminders of Him, the author writes a beautiful story of love, forgiveness, redemption, and courage. While reading this book, I was most impressed with
Kenna’s courage and determination and the love she has for a daughter she never met. That love, allowed her to return to a town where everybody hates her, and try to find the peace that kept her going through her five-year prison sentence.
Colleen Hoover is such a talented writer, she was able to keep the emotions high, without going over the edge and making the book depressing. The thread of hope is always there, even during the toughest scenes. From the very beginning of the book, I was hooked and I could not stop until I knew that Kenna would be okay.
The narrators, Brittany Pressley and Ryan West were great and I really enjoyed both their performances.
I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone!

Great review Wendy. After reading my first Colleen Hoover book last week, I am definitely going to read this one. My library doesn’t have the audiobook, but I am on the list for the hardcover for when I get home. It sounds very emotional for sure.
I think you’re going to love this one, Carla. It has a great balance. There is quite a steamy scene in the beginning of the book, but, the rest of the book is more emotional.

I have yet to be tempted by audio, but the book sounds good.
I like that with an audiobook, I can go for a walk, do dishes, or do housecleaning, and the time goes by faster, the chores are more enjoyable, and I get to listen to some great books. Thanks Rosie!
