Stacking The Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and ReadingReality all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts, and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. Don’t forget audiobooks!

I’m happy with the books I got this week!

NetGalley:

Publication Date: January 24, 2023

This is a bit different, with some magical realism. And it’s partially set in the Arizona Mountains, which is where I live, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Synopsis: A woman learns to expand the boundaries of her small world and let love inside it in this sparkling and unforgettable novel by Audrey Burges.

From her attic in the Arizona mountains, thirty-four-year-old Myra Malone blogs about a dollhouse mansion that captivates thousands of readers worldwide. Myra’s stories have created legions of fans who breathlessly await every blog post, trade photographs of Mansion-modeled rooms, and swap theories about the enigmatic and reclusive author. Myra herself is tethered to the Mansion by mysteries she can’t understand—rooms that appear and disappear overnight, music that plays in its corridors.

Across the country, Alex Rakes, the scion of a custom furniture business, encounters two Mansion fans trying to recreate a room. The pair show him the Minuscule Mansion, and Alex is shocked to recognize a reflection of his own life mirrored back to him in minute scale. The room is his own bedroom, and the Mansion is his family’s home, handed down from the grandmother who disappeared mysteriously when Alex was a child. Searching for answers, Alex begins corresponding with Myra. Together, the two unwind the lonely paths of their twin worlds—big and small—and trace the stories that entwine them, setting the stage for a meeting rooted in loss, but defined by love.

Edelweiss:

Publication Date April 4, 2023

I have to admit that I don’t even remember requesting this book. I rarely get approved for books at Edelweiss, so I rarely request them. But, after reading the blurb, I do like the setting and premise. So, I have high hopes for this one!

Synopsis: In a near-future northern settlement, a handful of climate change survivors find their fates intertwined in this mesmerizing and transportive novel in the vein of Station Eleven and The Power.

In the far north of Canada sits Camp Zero, an American building project hiding many secrets.

Desperate to help her climate-displaced Korean immigrant mother, Rose agrees to travel to Camp Zero and spy on its architect in exchange for housing. She arrives at the same time as another newcomer, a college professor named Grant who is determined to flee his wealthy family’s dark legacy. Gradually, they realize that there is more to the architect than previously thought, and a disturbing mystery lurks beneath the surface of the camp. At the same time, rumors abound of an elite group of women soldiers living and working at a nearby Cold War-era climate research station. What are they doing there? And who is leading them?

An electrifying page-turner where nothing is as it seems, Camp Zero cleverly explores how the intersection of gender, class, and migration will impact who and what will survive in a warming world.

That’s all I have for this week. Have you read any of these books? What’s on your list to read? Comment below!

  1. I am going to keep an eye out for The Minuscule Manson, that sounds like a book I will probably enjoy.

I’ve got no luck with Edelweiss. Maybe next year I will try a bit harder.

Have a good week ahead Wendy!

  2. Another small haul for you Wendy. You must be almost caught up on all your NG books. I want you to try saying the title of the first book 5 times, quickly. 🤣

  3. I can identify with not remembering you requested something. I’ve had it happen when a publisher accepts my request way past the publication date. It has happened a few times.

  4. Janette

These both sound really interesting. I hope you enjoy them and look forward to reading your reviews
