I’ve read some great books lately that are set in some gorgeous locations. I love the escapism of books, and when they are set in a fantastic location I can’t help but love to go there in my head.
- Malibu Rising By Taylor Jenkins Reid
This was such a fabulous book set in the California Beach City of Malibu in the 1980s. Surfers, bikinis, beach houses, and a beachside seafood restaurant makes me long for a vacation on the beach in the everlasting California sunshine. Here is a link to my review here.
2. The Bookstore on the Beach by Brenda Novak
This wonderful book is set in Virginia in a fictional town on the Chesapeake Bay. Bookstores and beaches, it doesn’t get much better than this. See my review for this wonderful book here.
3. Finding Love at Mermaid Terrace by Kate Forster.
Now we jump continents to Cornwall England. Mermaid Terrace is set in a fictional town on the beautiful coast of Cornwall. I just loved this setting and found myself sitting on a bench on the seaside like the characters of this book. See my review here.
4. The Borrow a Bookshop Holiday by Kiley Dunbar.
This book is set in beautiful Devon UK. Along the south coast of England a beautiful setting for a lovely book. A cozy bookshop near the beach in an idyllic sea town, just reading the book makes me relax and feel the sun on my face. You can check out my review for this book here.
5. Going Greek by Sue Roberts
Set on a beautiful Greek Island in a village by the sea, you just can’t get more summertime than the setting of this wonderful book. Drinks by the pool with a cocktail, and then exploring the ocean caves nearby make this a lovely book to read in the summer and relax. See my review here.
6. Summer in the City by Lori Wilde, Priscilla Oliveras, Sarah Skilton
Back in the US, we spend the summer with three friends in the Iconic summer city of New York. This book follows three young women as they find love in the city. My review is here.
7. The Stepsisters by Susan Mallery
Set in Los Angeles, specifically opulent Bel-Air in a gorgeous home with an inviting pool. This story is about three sisters, one half-sister, and one stepsister who have been estranged and learn to like, live and love together again. Sipping cocktails next to the pool, they discover they are not so different after all. This is my 5-star review for this stunning book here.
Have you read any of these books? Do you have any summer books set in gorgeous locations that I should read? Comment below! Thanks!
Great post, Wendy. Although these books are in genres I don’t read, they’ve made me want to go away on holiday somewhere! Lol! đ
Thank you Flora. We do seem to enjoy different genres, but at least we share a love of reading.
