THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER
"A hilarious, tender, and altogether life-affirming gem of a book." --Emily Henry, bestselling author of Beach Read
A brilliant and touching romantic comedy about two polar opposites, one adorable dog, and living every day to its fullest. When Vanessa Price quit her job to pursue her dream of traveling the globe, she wasn't expecting to gain millions of YouTube followers who shared her joy of seizing every moment. For her, living each day to its fullest isn't just a motto. Her mother and sister never saw the age of 30, and Vanessa doesn't want to take anything for granted. But after her half sister suddenly leaves Vanessa in custody of her baby daughter, life goes from "daily adventure" to "next-level bad" (now with bonus baby vomit in hair). The last person Vanessa expects to show up offering help is the hot lawyer next door, Adrian Copeland. After all, she barely knows him. No one warned her that he was the Secret Baby Tamer or that she'd be spending a whole lot of time with him and his geriatric Chihuahua. Now she's feeling things she's vowed not to feel. Because the only thing worse than falling for Adrian is finding a little hope for a future she may never see.
My Review:
Life’s Too Short by Abby Jimenez is the third book in her popular The Friend Zone series. I loved this book (I listened to the audiobook). I enjoyed the characters very much, but I loved the overall theme of living your life as if it’s your last day. It’s a fun, inspirational, and emotional book, that I will want to read again.
Vannessa is a YouTube influencer who lives life to its fullest every day. She unexpectedly gets her sister’s newborn baby dropped off, and instead of traveling the world for her vlog, she has to figure out how to care for her sister’s baby, Grace, until she can get her sister into rehab so she can care for Grace on her own.
Adrian lives next door to Vanessa but had never met her until 3 am one morning when her baby was crying so much that he couldn’t sleep. When he confronted her, he found a frazzled woman trying her best in a tough situation. So, instead of continuing his rant, he had her take a shower while he miraculously quieted the baby and calmed her down.
Vanessa and Adrian are two people who need each other and form a friendship first as they fall in love. These characters are both very likable from the beginning of this story and grew on me even more as the story progressed. This book grabbed me from the very beginning and took me on a fantastic journey with these characters and their troubled families too.
It’s the theme of this book that I enjoyed the most. Live each day as if it’s your last because you never know what tomorrow will bring. The optimism in this book just made me smile throughout the whole book.
[…] This book was so uplifting, I felt like I could conquer the world after reading this book. The romance is one of the best. This book is sprinkled heavily with humor but is so heartwarming and inspirational it’s difficult to call this a rom-com. See my review here. […]
Fantastic review Wendy! Glad you loved this one! I liked it but not quite as much as you did.
Thanks, Susanne!
Great review! I loved this book as well (and the others in the series). Abby Jimenez has become one of my favourite authors. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Jodie, this was a first for me by this author, but I plan to read more by her.
