What she finds on Kelleys Island is Mason, a handsome, moody man who knows everything about brewing beer and nothing about running a hotel. Especially one that’s barely more than foundation and studs. It’s not the job Rachel was looking for, but Mason offers her a chance to help build a hotel—and rebuild her own life—from the ground up.
My Review:
The Suite Spot by Trish Doller is the second book in her popular Beck Sisters series, but can easily be read as a stand-alone book. This delightful story is about a woman who loses her job and has to start over in a new location with her three-year-old daughter.
Rachel Beck just lost her job at an upscale hotel in Ft. Lauderdale, for something she didn’t do. Unfair as it was, Rachel needs a job in order to support her daughter, Maisie, and herself. Masie’s father and her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian only visits Maisie when it’s convenient for him, and doesn’t pay child support due to his unemployment status. Frustrated because she’s been blackballed from most of the hotels in the St. Lauderdale area, she takes a job at a Brewery boutique hotel set on an island in Lake Erie, Ohio named Kelly’s Island. The remote location appeals to her, so she takes her daughter Maisey and moves to the Island.
Mason lives on Kelly’s Island and is building a hotel to go with his brewery. He’s more interested in beer brewing and his ex-wife was supposed to run the hotel. With no interest in the hotel, he decides to hire a hotel manager to help him get up and running. However, when Rachel arrives on the island, she realized that the hotel isn’t finished, and in fact has barely started. She eventually agrees to help Mason build and furnish the hotel and brewery and their close working relationship slowly turns into something more.
I enjoyed this story so much, I liked the setting especially. The island in Lake Erie and the wilderness were fun to read about. The romance between Mason and Rachel was a bit steamy and I was rooting for both of them to make it. They both have pasts they must deal with, and it’s not easy for them. I also enjoyed reading about the rehabilitation of the brewery, and cabins.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
