Some of my favorite authors for this week’s haul!
NetGalley:
I have enjoyed and read almost every book Robyn Carr has written and loved them all.
Synopsis: Life’s biggest dilemmas can provide its sweetest rewards.
Anna McNichol knows how to take charge. Raised by a single mother, she’s worked to ensure her three children have every advantage she didn’t. And while her marriage has its problems, she values commitment and believes in “till death do us part.” Now an empty nester, she’s at the peak of her career and ready to seize the opportunity to focus on her future.
But life can change in an instant, and when her husband dies suddenly, Anna’s carefully constructed world falls apart. The mysterious young woman at the memorial service confirms her husband had been keeping secrets, and Anna is determined to get to the truth.
For once, she doesn’t have the answers. Her kids are struggling with their grief, her mother’s health is in decline and Anna needs closure. Faced with one challenge after another, she finds support from an unexpected source. And as she puts her life back together, Anna realizes the McNichols may not be perfect but they’ll always be family, and family is forever.
Susan Mallery has been one of my favorite authors, so I’m pretty excited to get this book.
Synopsis: One woman discovers the beauty in chaos in this poignant and heartwarming story about the threads that hold family together from #1 New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery.
With her divorce settlement about to run out and a mortgage she can’t afford, Robyn Caldwell needs a plan for her future. She nurtured her family and neglected herself. But how’s she supposed to think when her daughter has become the most demanding bride ever, her son won’t even consider college, her best friend is on the brink of marital disaster and her ex is making a monumentally bad decision that could bring everything crashing down on Robyn’s head? So when her great-aunt Lillian invites her to Santa Barbara for the summer, Robyn hops on the first plane.
But it’s hard to run away when you’re the heart of the family. One by one, everyone she left behind follows her across the country. Somehow, their baggage doesn’t feel as heavy in the sun-drenched, mishmash mansion. The more time Robyn spends with free-spirited Lillian, the more she sees the appeal in taking chances—on dreams, on love, on family. Life is meant to be lived on purpose. All she has to do is muster the courage to take a chance on herself.
I don’t read many mysteries but I’ve enjoyed books by Jude Deveraux before and this looks good.
Synopsis: Even the closest families have secrets hidden away.
Bestselling novelist Sara Medlar is skilled at sharing stories about other people, but she hoped the truth about her own family would never surface. Her home in Lachlan, Florida, is her refuge and she loves having her niece Kate and dear friend Jack Wyatt together under her roof. The Medlar Three, as they are known around town, have sworn off getting involved in any more murder investigations.
When the sheriff unexpectedly leaves on vacation, Jack is surprised to find himself appointed as deputy. So when Kate stumbles upon a dead body while visiting a friend, the Medlar Three are back in the sleuthing game. Kate also has a charming new real estate client with a mysterious past. He seems to be followed by trouble and that makes Sara and Jack uneasy.
It doesn’t take long to discover that the murder and the new man in town are somehow related—the question is how. When the stranger’s true identity is revealed, Sara realizes her carefully crafted story is about to unravel and she fears she’ll lose Kate and Jack forever. But she desperately hopes that love and honesty will win out over years of lies and deceit. And besides, family is family—even if you sometimes want to kill them.
Edelweiss
A rare Edelweiss approval! One more Carolyn Brown book, but look at the pub date, I think I have some time to get it read…
Synopsis: A week before your wedding is a heckuva time for your ex to ride back into town, stirring up trouble. Thank goodness for a wise granny’s reminiscenes of her own sassy wedding at just the right moment to remind Darla McAdams what’s really important to her and just who she wants to share her happily every after with.
That’s all I have for this week. Have you read any of these books? What’s on your list to read? Comment below!
Happy reading! 📚
Thank you, Happy Reading to you too!
Sounds like Robyn Carr is an author I need to add to my TBR!
I love her books. Her Virgin River series is on Netflix, however, I like her books better than the show.
Ooh I like the sound of a Relative Murder!!!
I’m hoping it’s good! Jude Deveraux has been writing for a few decades.
I just downloaded A Family Affair too. I’m a huge fan of Robyn Carr. I’m on the fence about the Susan Mallery book. I read one by her I didn’t like, but I was offered this one, too and it sounds good. Edelweiss is picky with me too, Congrats on an approval!
Thank you, Rachel. We do have a lot of the same tastes in books.
What a great haul! I love mysteries and A Relative Murder sounds very intriguing. I hope you’re having a great weekend!
Thank you!
They all sound interesting. Usually I’d have picked the mystery above the others but in this case even the other titles sound equally enjoyable
Thank you Mallika! These are some of my favorite authors.
Nice selection of books, I hope you enjoy them 🙂
Thank you Cindy.
Wonderful haul, Wendy. I also have all of those and a few more. I made up for my small haul last week. I hope we both enjoy these.
I hope so too Carla!
Excellent haul Wendy! I was denied the Carolyn Brown so will wait until it comes on Netgalley. Have a wonderful weekend!🤗📚❤
Thank you, Susan. There is no rhyme or reason for these approvals and rejections.
A great book haul 💕
Thank you Jenny!
